Wow, Past Twelve is my brother in law...man that hurt. Didn't expect that on this thread. I hope my wife doesn't read this post..

I have heard a couple of the rough tracks from her new project with an orchestra, absolutely beautiful.

Sorry; no personal offense intended. I just like the earlier style better.

I am just in his corner knowing that this is his career and bread & butter. You may not like newer styles but there are many who do..as far as Glen, some of the best artists on the planet appreciate his skill that is GOD given.

Who says I don't like the newer styles? This thread is about 70's-80's music.

Because the artists you listed from those decades STILL had an older sound even in their day...there were other artists that were doing cutting edge music in the 70's & 80's you did NOT list any...

Early 70's as a hippie:

Bloodrock
Grand Funk
Deep Purple
Uriah Heep
Crosby Stills Nash and Young
Ten Years After
Jimi Hendrix
Led Zeppelin
Johnny Winter
Donavan
Bob Dylan
Cream
Favorite-Peter Paul and Mary

After salvation:

Second Chapter Of Acts
Petra
David And The Giants
John Michael Talbot
Rosanna's Raiders
Mark Farner
Whitecross
Whiteheart
Guardian
Leviticus
Loud
Twila Paris
Big Tent Revival
Lamb
Honeytree
Keith Green

Im not familiar with most music today. Once in a while Air One or K Love has something good. Seems like the "older was better".

I very rarely listen to secular music now. Once in a while my wife and I get out our Peter Paul and Mary video. And we have a few nice "Doo Woop" video's for special occasions.

You were NOT a hippie...no Grateful Dead listed, he he! J/K

To me you musical taste show a regard for musicianship over style, for most of the bands listed had great musicians not just popularity...today's secular artists that you might enjoy would be John Mayer..maybe John Legend although he may have too much R&B flow for you?
