Largest Houston TX UPC Churches?

A few decades ago Houston Texas was home to quite a few successful UPC churches that are no longer UPC or no longer exist. Off of the top of my head some of them are;

1. Life Tabernacle (now Life Church)
2. R.L. Mitchell's Church (can't remember the name)
3. Grace Church Humble (The Jones Brothers)
4. Jabo Green - Champion Life Church (I think)
5. Richard Heard's church(not positive this was UPC but it was conservative)

What are the main UPC churches in Houston today and about how many folks to they have attending?

I know David Fauss is stlil UPC and that C.L. Dee's church is still UPC but I dob't know how big it is. In the 70's it ran around 1,000 but I know it had some tough times after the pastoral transition.

"We did not wear uniforms. The lady workers dressed in the current fashions of the day, ...silks...satins...jewels or whatever they happened to possess. They were very smartly turned out, so that they made an impressive appearance on the streets where a large part of our work was conducted in the early years.

"It was not until long after, when former Holiness preachers had become part of us, that strict plainness of dress began to be taught.

"Although Entire Sanctification was preached at the beginning of the Movement, it was from a Wesleyan viewpoint, and had in it very little of the later Holiness Movement characteristics. Nothing was ever said about apparel, for everyone was so taken up with the Lord that mode of dress seemingly never occurred to any of us."

LT was taken over by Elder Kilgore's son and he went independent I guess. He is on an Apostolic Ministers facebook forum

  4. That Jesus name baptism is the only biblical mode of water baptism.

I don't have any numbers, but I know Bro. Gurley's church is pretty big, and he is a UPC head guy, I think he is head of the South Texas district.

Pentecostals of Katy - Rob McKee.
Not sure how big it is, but from what I have seen online is fairly large.
I would say at least 500+

Yeah, I know what happened to about all of the old ones I mentioned. I just wanted to know who has taken their place now that they are not UPC. Jimbo Kilgore was UPC until about a year ago or so. He took so much grief over being liberal within the UPC he finally left.

Interesting. I will check it out. You would think with the population growth in Houston over the past 40 years there would be a lot of large UPC and Oneness churches of every kind.

One man operations seldom get all that big. The Texas UPC has had some tough sledding in recent years, seems to me.

Yup. Losing Jimbo Kilgore and Rex Johnson being the most recent loss of pastors / churches of significant size.
