Re: Dottie Rambo Killed in Bus Accident due to Sto
I did not come to appreciate Dottie until later in life. When she was at her peak back when I was a teenager in the 70's I was into contemporary gospel music so Reba was the one I liked.
I remember at the age of around 15 getting in huge trouble with my pastor because myself and two other young people missed church on a Wednesday night to drive out of town to Leesville or Anacoca Lousiana to hear The Rambo's in concert at an AOG church.
This was around 1974-75 so they had not been out of the UPC but just a few years.
It was a great concert and one of the guys I was with hosted a Gospel Music radio program and he took me with him to interview Buck Rambo and had buck record a few promo's for his radio show.
It was a wonderful adventure until we got back home and faced the music or another kind from our pastor!

My first memory of Dottie Rambo was whenI was around 7 or 8 years old. (1962-63) The Singing Rambos were the guest singers at a UPC sectional rally in Joliet, Illinois.
I remember the place was packed, and Dottie played a guitar while they sing. I recall them singing the song, "Jubilee". My dad bought a record from that rally, and we wore it out because we played it so much!

In my mind, she the greatest songwriter ever!
Would be interesting to find out where that church was, as there has only been one UPC church in Joliet, IL since 1974, when my mom came into 'the church'.
I was born and raised in the Lockport, IL church, but know the Joliet church well. If it was packed, that means there was about 200-250 people there, if it was at the church currently in existance.
Of course, being so young, that was waaaaaaay before my time!! LOL!
But I have a lot of her music on my computer, and I'd have loved to have heard her sing in person just once.

I don't know what all the Rambos may have or might not have done, for God is their judge.
But I do know this to me there has never been a more beautiful song than Holy Spirit thou art welcome.
I feel The Holy Ghost everytime I hear that song.
