I write a lot about prophecy on this forum, but to see people speak at it as though it's as important as Acts 2:38 boggles my mind.

Be boggled. Truth is truth.
DONT FORGET....... 2 Thess 2:3.
Let no man DECEIVE you by any means: for that day shall not come except there be a falling away first and that man of sin be revealed the son of perdition.
Thats whats wrong with the "Apostolic" movement. To them ACTS 2:38 is all that matters. Not so with Jesus!
If Paul (by the Holy Spirit) calls men DECEIVERS for teaching different than himself about the second coming they are DECEIVERS.
Its the "light" doctrine making itself manifest among Apostolics!
Anything but Acts 2:38 believe what you want and your ok!
After all who takes Jesus seriously when he says the Holy Spirit will guide you into all truth!

No doubt about it.
2 Thessalonians 2:3, is a strong scripture: "Let no man deceive you by any means:
for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of
sin be revealed, the son of perdition..."
I also believe in post trib; however, I do not preach it as a fail-safe day, or to condemn.
There is the danger of preaching pre-trib, and endangering the souls of them that
believe pre-trib and fall away if/when the Lord does not appear. I say, BE READY!
Pre-, mid-, or post: BE READY.
The falling away nor the son of perdition will be sen by them that are not ready!

Although I agree with what you are saying, I must insist that "the light doctrine" is not at all about "certain doctrines are irrelevant as far as salvation is concerned".
Rather than calling it the light doctrine, perhaps it should just be called ecumenicalism, because that's really what it seems to be.

Ecumenicalism is the false doctrine that is summed up by "we all believe in Jesus, that's all that matters" slogan. So, being ecumenical means you base fellowship on the mere profession of being Christian. Doctrine doesn't matter. Immersion, sprinkling, pouring - don't matter. Pretrib, midtrib, posttrib - don't matter. Etc.
The "light doctrine" was a belief held by some early 20th century apostolics which said that people who lived and died BEFORE the latter day Pentecostal outpouring and revelation of Oneness, but who were faithful and obedient to all the light of true doctrine that God had revealed in their day, would have eternal life. It is the belief that one must believe and be obedient to all the truth that God has revealed up to your current time. It is based on the idea that God has been successively restoring truth to the church, beginning with the Reformation, then the Holiness revival, then the Pentecostal revival, then the Oneness revelation, etc. It is not, to my knowledge, the crazy idea that folks are only accountable for what they choose to believe, and will not be judged for what they choose to reject, nor is it the idea that we should fellowship with whoever claims to be Christian regardless of what doctrines they do or don't hold to.

I understand the Apostolic version of the light doctrine. Other groups have their own version. I see it clearly among Apostolics. It is demonstrated by those on the Forum who think one is safe preaching about any of the popular endtimes doctrine.
They figure good men differ. The very same thing others believe about issues like the Godhead and new birth.

I maintain the view you propose is far too unbalanced. Unhealthily so.
