I believe that the states should be allowed to assume more control over their own laws and rescue plans.
I believe that washington as a whole should givr more control to the indivaul states.
maybe abortion and rescue asst. should be controled by the states not the feds.
I believe in states rights with a smaller fed. gov.

FEMA was more efficient before they brought it under the Department of Homeland Security. You can't get to the President as quickly. They should have left it as an independent cabinet level agency. That way they could, more effectively, coordinate with the various agencies and departments offering assistance.

Exactly. And Brown, with all of his shortcomings, was one of the most outspoken opponents to the transition, citing that the move would create an inefficient organization, and hamper response times.
Basically, when FEMA became a part of the Department of Homeland Security, it's efforts became more focused on terrorist attacks, and less focused on domestic disasters.

And when did that FEMA takeover by Homeland Security take place? Right! 2003 with the Republicans - GWB. Boy, aren't we the Grand Old Party.
Voting 3rd party seems to be becoming more crucial every day. I am sick of this controlling duopoly we have been handed. Something has got to give.

I hate what both parties have done and are doing to our great country. And if I see Romney tilt his head and give that serene smile, like he is Errol Flynn, one more time, I'm going to scream. 
Seriously, I think there are times in your life when you know you've come up against a person you will never warm up to, never like, never trust. Romney is that guy for me. I have never liked him. Just a gut feeling that won't go away with him. Can't help the way I feel.

I actually get that. He seems a bit slippery.....and automatronic. Kind of like a robot at times....or a zombie, in honor of Halloween!
