Contemporary or not?

When's the last time you heard this sung in Church?
(It's been sung in a fellowship meeting in Indiana not too long ago)

This train is bound for glory this train
This train is bound for glory this train
This train is bound for glory
Don't carry nothin' but the righteous and the holy
This train is bound for glory this train

This train don't carry no gamblers this train
This train don't carry no gamblers this train
This train don't carry no gamblers
No dice shooters, no midnight gamblers
This train don't carry no gamblers this train

This train is leavin' in the morning this train
This train is leavin' in the morning this train
This train is leavin' in the morning
Great God Almighty, a new day's dawning
This train is leavin' in the morning this train

This train don't carry no rustlers this train
This train don't carry no rustlers this train
This train don't carry no rustlers
No street walkers no two-bit hustlers
This train is leavin' in the morning this train

This train don't pull no jokers, this train
This train don't pull no jokers, this train
This train don't pull no jokers
No snuff dippers or cigarette smokers
This train is bound for glory, this train.

This train is built for speed now this train
This train is built for speed now this train
This train is built for speed now
Fastest train you ever did see now
This train is bound for glory this train

This train is a holy train, this train
This train is a holy train, this train
This train is a holy train,
Everybody rides it in Jesusí name
This train is a holy train, this train

This train don't carry no liars this train
This train don't carry no liars this train
This train don't carry no liars
No hypocrites and no high flyers
This train is bound for glory this train

This train don't pay no transportation this train
This train don't pay no transportation this train
This train don't pay no transportation
No Jim Crow and no discrimination
This train is bound for glory this train

This train donít carry no passes this train
This train donít carry no passes this train
This train donít carry no passes
No bobbed haired women or knee high dresses
This train is bound for glory this train

This train is bound for glory this train
This train is bound for glory this train
This train is bound for glory
Don't carry nothin' but the righteous and the holy
This train is bound for glory this train

Or how about this one that seems to have different versions in different places?

The great speckled bird

What a beautiful thought I am thinking
Concerning the great speckled bird
Remember her name is recorded
On the pages of God's Holy Word

There are many who'd lower her standards
And they watch every move that she makes
They just want to find fault with her teachings
Tho they search, they can find no mistakes

Where He comes on a cloud in the morning
And his voice around the earth shall be heard
Oh, Iwant to be ready to meet him
And go up on the Great speckled bird

Great Speckled Bird
Words and music by (Reverend) Guy Smith

Jeremiah 12:9
Mine heritage is unto me as a speckled bird ...

What a beautiful thought I am thinking,
Concerning a great speckled bird.
Remember her name is recorded,
On the pages of God's Holy Word.

All the other birds flocking 'round her
And she is despised by the squad.
But the great speckled bird in the Bible
Is one with the great Church of God.

All other churches are against her,
They envy her glory and fame.
They hate her because she is chosen
And has not denied Jesus' name.

Desiring to lower her standard,
They watch every move that she makes
They long to find fault with her teachings,
But really they find no mistake.

She is spreading her wings for a journey.
She's going to leave by and by;
When the trumpet shall sound in the morning,
She'll rise and go up in the sky.

In the presence of all her despisers,
With a song never uttered before,
She will rise and be gone in a moment
'Til the great tribulation is o'er.

I am glad I have learned of her meekness.
I am proud that my name is on her book,
For I want to be one never fearing
On the face of my Savior to look.

When He cometh descending from heaven,
On a cloud like He writes in His Word,
I'll be joyfully carried to meet Him
On the wings of that great speckled bird.

Sam,

No these are not contemporary! Personally (and I do mean personally) Im glad they are not. Songs like that are nice once in a while for old time sake but there are songs now that to me take us into heavenly realms much more intensely.
