For the Pentecostal practice of "running the aisles".

Please help.

I remember hearing " I have ran thru a troop and jumped over a wall" being quoted.

The new revised pennycostal translation has changed the wording to jumped over a pew.

2 Samuel 22:30
For by thee I have run through a troop: by my God have I leaped over a wall.

Hopefully no one thought I was serious with this reference ;-)

I doubt you'll find any proof text, other that scriptures where someone leaped for joy.

Leaping for joy being a physical action in response to God'd spirit moving upon someone could give license to all matter of other exubuarant physical forms of praise.

While we are looking for proof texts , maybe we could find one on running the backs of the pews.

I visited a church years ago that had this practice. Amazingly, most all the pews were breaking loose from their floor anchors.
I can only imangine God received great glory from this.

If halal defines itself as being "clamorously foolish", "to shine", "to make a show", I think it then leaves that expression up to the individual.

What say you?

Also the man in Acts 3 who was healed and went walking and leaping and praising God.

I didn't see "running the aisles" until I was older, campmeetings etc.
As a small child I just remember seeing people "slain in the spirit" so to speak at front of church near the altar.

When I was a kid, our church didn't do the "running the aisles" thing, but we did do "victory marches". I think that was based on the walls of Jericho.

Later on, I saw the "running the aisles", but it wasn't based on a scriptural principle, just supposed to be an expression of "I feel so good I can't contain it" kind of thing, I think.

It is taken from chapter 4 of "The Book of Love" -which we still do not know who wrote it originally.
