Last night...

Not to mention how tired we were after spending almost a week away from home running after documents and you that have experience in foreign counties know how tiring and frustrating that can be.
We got in a little after 3 pm and Michael mentioned that an offering came in for gas money for him to go to a city an hour and a half from here and he sure wished we could go and meet the people. We hadn´t had anything to eat since 6 in the morning so took us a quick shower fixed us a fast meal and we were ready to go once again.
The old church van went first since it always breaks down…then Michael followed in his van. We were going in our car and it usually takes Brother Alvear longer to get anywhere since he drives a lot slower than our boys. So by us not arriving on time the boys and those with them just thought it was because of slow driving. In reality we had hit a deep hole in the road busted a tire and bent the reams of two tires…and the long stretch of road was black dark and very dangerous. We did not have a flashlight and worked and worked but for some reason our wrench would not unscrew the bolts on the tire…Our cell phones would not pick up anything so there we were broke down and in that area no one stops because carjacking and bandits are everywhere. The darkness was so great and dense and we were in no man´s land…an area known for killing and robbing cars…
Finally Brother Alvear said let´s just get in the car and pray. Michael´s wife was with us with their 2 kids so I was glad I had packed a little snack to keep them busy eating.
After over an hour Michael and a group of brothers showed up and they were shaking as they had seen a robbery on the highway and people running and they thought it was us…not over a mile from where we were broke down. Well they had the needed tools and got the tire changed and we drove very slowly on to the place of the house meeting which turned out to be a yard meeting as the house would not hold the people who showed up.
Service was well under way. Beto a boy from our church that was delivered from drugs was standing and telling the people how God set him free.
The spirit of the Lord was awesome right there in the open air in that poor deserted village.
I thought of the millions of “out of the way” villages in our world…where hungry people are waiting for the word of life. How happy they were we finally got there…Many of them stood for over 3 hours and listened as we sang and preached to them.
One of the villagers looked at me after the service and said, I wonder if we will ever have a church in our area?” I wondered the same thing…
