Re: Does Everyone Live Forever?

Isn't the second death the eternal casting into the lake of fire?
Isn't saying God "is the judge" an out for interpreting that death means annihilation?

There will be consequences. They will be tormented in Hell fire, then they will die. I would dare say most believers dont really believe in eternal punishment at all. At least they dont live like they do.

They dont witness to the lost to save them from Hell. They dont cleanse themselves of all filthiness of the flesh and spirit perfecting holiness in the fear of God so as to save themselves from it.

They mostly ignore the idea.

I think if one truly believed that if they continue in sin they would even burn in Hell-fire for ONE DAY......they would never commit a sin.

Re: Does Everyone Live Forever?

What most believe or live like doesn't establish annihilation. Nor does it follow they are choosing to sin based on outcome. Scripture gives ample reasons why people continue in sin outside the consideration of consequences.

Being cast into the lake of fire is "the second death". It is what happens to the wicked when they stand before YAH in judgment.

It is not immortality in Hell. It is the second DEATH.

Death is the opposite of life.

God so loved the world he gave his only begotten Son that whoever believes in him should not PERISH but have everlasting LIFE. John 3:16

For the wages of sin is DEATH but the gift of God is eternal LIFE through Jesus Christ our Lord. Rom. 6:23

So, being cast into the lake of fire IS the very definition of the second death. That is not defining some death to follow. That is defining the meaning of death. And if death is the opposite of life, then eternal death being punishment is the opposite of eternal life being reward.

True what people believe or how they live does not establish annihilation/destruction of the wicked. It is established by scripture. Thats why I have given plenty of it in this thread.

The Apostles ordained by Jesus taught the wicked would be destroyed by fire not live eternally in it.

2 Thess 1:7-

7And to you who are troubled rest with us, when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with his mighty angels, 8In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ: 9Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power; 10When he shall come to be glorified in his saints, and to be admired in all them that believe (because our testimony among you was believed) in that day.

Destruction means they will be destroyed. Once they are destroyed they pass into the the BLACKNESS OF DARKNESS spoken of by Peter and Jude.

NOTHINGNESS.

They are no longer in the Lords presence. They are nothing.

Not necessarily. I'm not into either view much, but I do wonder why eternal suffering is necessary.

So is the second death life?

Re: Does Everyone Live Forever?

That assumes "blackness of darkness" means annihilation and nothingness. Really have to stretch on that.

Reaping and sowing. Scripture goes to lengths to share that principle. Jesus died to give us a way out of that and into eternal life. Better we never were born than to go into eternal destruction.
