One cannot build a fence high or wide enough to protect those whose hearts are not surrendered to the King of Kings! Those whose hearts ARE surrendered, live their lives within the boundaries of holy writ.
Therefore, if "holiness" is what one seeks, one must fix their "crosshairs" on the cross and the heart. Anything short of that is "religion" and is deadly to true spirituality.

Right, but we don't expect adults to stay behind it as the babies do.
Exactly.

Oh here's a theory: maybe in this analogy, only the Pastor is the "adult", and all of "his" saints are babies, and will be forever!

After years of vehemently opposing television and making it a point of fellowship I want to publicly salute and commend the courage and maturity of men like Kent Smith, Johnny Carroll, Doug White for drawing new lines in the sand and making allowances for TV, and jewelry too. I want to invite these gentlemen and the brave 290 some odd men to a local AmC theater for the movie of their choice.

Who's to say that this whole "We Declare" thing isn't just another statement "in addition" to the affirmation statement, and not "instead of"?
Please, somebody, explain to me how the creators of wedeclare.org, who have consistently and vehemently resisted any and all changes to our manual, can author and publish a document like the one posted on wedeclare.com?
How can they, with a straight face, expect any reasonable person who has followed forum activity for the past few years, to simply sit back and not comment about the statements they have made over the past few days concerning the website, the direction of the org, and the five things they consider essential?
For the record, these men resisted change to the manual that allowed television advertising, and yet now they say they allow for diversity in the area of media. In other words, television is a non-issue to them. They are not willing to divide over the issue. They are ceding the argument, and capitulating to "the emergents."
For the record, these men have consistently raged against the "Pontiac meeting" that occurred a few months ago because they thought those men were promoting a liberal agenda. We have seen hand-wringing, nasty letters, and some men have even opined that the Pontiac attendees have "targets on their chests."
On this forum, men have been "marked", and character has been assassinated, over perceived theological and lifestyle liberalities that do not come close to those promoted by wedeclare.org.
Please understand, wedeclare.org promotes liberty (allowance) of five things our UPCI holiness position speaks against.
1. There is no mention of organized sports. Zero. Zilch. Nada.
2. There is no TV prohibition - even for ministers.
3. There is no mention of mixed bathing.
4. There is no mention of theaters.
5. Jewelry is permitted, in moderation.
Please, somebody tell me how you guys can consider yourselves real conservatives, push for the exlusion and removal of men you perceive "liberal", and then suggest tolerance in these five areas?
