Question about music files

Is there any way I can get music files that are lifted from CDs and stored in Windows media player somewhere so that I can upload them and make ringtones from them using phonezoo? They allow use of copyrighted material to make ringtones for personal use, but they can't be exchanged. I am just not technically inclined enough to figure out how to do this.

Or maybe I didn't figure it out.... It lets me upload the file, but then just loops... and won't let me play the file to take the clip from it once the file is on the site. Weird....

Linux? That would mean I have to learn a whole new operating system...

Is it worth it?

Phonezoo has an option to create your own ringtones from music that you upload to the site. It shows me that the song is uploading (which takes forever) But when it finished uploading, it just says that it's "looping" (That was the word used on the site, not my term) And it won't play the song or let me edit it down to a 20 second clip for a ringtone.

I told y'all I am NOT technically inclined...

There has to be an easier way to do this... I refuse to pay $2.49 each to get the ringtones I want.

I'll have to sweet talk someone into making them for me. Yeah, right....

If you are willing to spend a few bucks there is a great program out there called Tunebyte.

http://www.tunebyte.com

It will make mp3's and will cut ringtones from them.

What file format does it have to be in? Why not just download a free editor and do it on the PC?

Or someone with the know how could let me send them the songs on a CD and make the ringtones for me...

I'm not kidding... I have NO IDEA what I'm doing... I have learned what I know by trial and error.

You know those jokes you read online where the tech support people tell the woman she should put her computer back in the box and take it back where she purchased it..................... Well, I'm not quite THAT bad....

It's not that urgent. I found a few premade ones on there that I like.. I can live with those till I get sick of them. Maybe by that time I'll figure it out. I'll keep playing around with stuff till I do.
