Acts 8:14

I was just wondering why there was a cause for Peter and John to come to Samaria. It was then that they rec'd the HG. It seems as though Philip coupld have got the job done. He was obviously qualified as he was preaching the gospel and witnessing other miracles.

Just wondering.

Peter had the keys and until the door was opened to Jew-Samaritan-Gentile it was his job to bind and loose. After that then it was not necessary.

Yes, it was Peter's job to open the doors of the Church first to the Jews (which He did in Acts 2), then to the Samaritans (which he did in Acts 8), and finally to the Gentiles (which he did in Acts 10). As for the binding and loosing, I'm not sure that has to do specifically with opening the doors to the Church.
