"Whatsoever is not of faith is sin."
Romans 14:23
But I think this may be more of a
Titus 1:5 type of problem. Basically, we have people with unregenerated and unbelieving minds attempting to define what is "pure" to those who are truly pure and believing in their minds. Such a contradiction will always lead to misunderstandings.
It's sort of like the "contradiction of sinners" (
Hebrews 12:3) that Jesus was forced to endure; only in the case of Jesus Christ it proved to have fatal consequences. The people who condemned our Lord thought they were doing "God's service." They condemned Christ out of their own mistaken notions of what was holy and what was unclean.
When true Holiness walked right up to them and looked them in the eye, they simply failed to recognize Him. We have much the same problem today. The advice of the apostle in in
Hebrews 12:1-3, is as vital today as any time.
