Where did I say it had no effect? Please, point that out to me. What I said, was that they're not intended for younger audiences. If young children are playing them, then that's a problem of the home, not of the game.

What about those of proper age, but who are unstable? Certainly they can be effected.

Re: Ban Violent Video Games?

Personally, I wouldn't ban video games. I might keep my eyes open for excessive use or obsession though.

If you would read what I posted....

I never said that they have no effect, what I said was that they're not going to cause people to go on a violent, murderous spree, which they won't. Unstable people can be triggered by anything, to blame it on video games is a strawman argument.

So, we agree such games shouldn't be banned. Perhaps, we should just be more aware of such games, and how some kids might obsess over them. Much like excessive use of pornography, it can signal a concern.

Would you say that's reasonable?

I would like to say that our culture's acceptance and glorification of violence in entertainment, I feel, plays a roll. I know it's cliche, but we'd do well to seek to make love (charity, goodness, kindness, and intimacy), not war. I'd like to see greater effort to change our glorification of violence in our society.

Re: Ban Violent Video Games?

In no particular order I would list the causes of increased school shootings as:

Social Media
Search Engines
You Tube
Chat Rooms / Instant Messengers
Lack of Parental and School discipline
Violent Movies
Violent Video Games
Lack of Gun Education at home
Increased Depression
Less sense of community
Less Christianity
Too much tolerance for social and moral deviation
Hippy Influence of the 60's
Ease of transportation
Partisan Politics
Abortion
Lost Respect for human life
Greater Population
Larger class sizes in schools

In general banning 1-2 things isn't the solution because there are so many issues that are driving this thing. I don't have the solution but I know it's not a simple solution.

Well, we know that we can't ban things and change the fallen human heart. And I don't believe we can force the heathen to obey God.

What if our nation's survival depends upon... us... the church?
2 Chronicles 7:14
If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.
What if America can be saved if WE (the church) will humble ourselves and seek God's face to find out what it is that we're doing wrong? And what if we were willing to make the change necessary to make things right?

Might God hear from Heaven, forgive our sin, and heal our nation?

What would a list of our sins, the sins of the church, look like?
