Our internet usage isn't being put into 1 big database. (Unless the government is doing it...) Companies may track what IP address does what on their site, but beyond that they don't have much of a way to get other information. Even then the IP address could refer to anyone that uses your computer and not just you. There just isn't enough individually identifying data in a centralized location that allows any kind of individual predictions to be scary.
Okay, let's think a minute. We live in an era of basic peace at the moment. But, if someone like Hitler were to take control of the reigns, so to speak, it would not be hard to get together a few databases and compile tons of data about everyone. You say you don't think anyone has this capability....except maybe the government. That's the whole point. Are you confident the government now and always will have your best interests at heart?

They can't compile data on PEOPLE. They can only compile data on an IP address. All the computers in your house have a single IP address. Everyone that uses those computers share that IP address. So they cannot compile data down to the personal level. They best they could do is compile data down to an IP address.

Fine, but that is not all the data I am talking about. Much of it is done in marketing. All your credit card data is out there. All your phone data is out there. All your banking data is out there.
I am not sure why "just" compiling data on an IP address should make a person feel any better. The point is, the technology is out there to catagorize people any way "they" want to.

Yea, my bank has my banking info. My credit card company has my credit card info. My phone company has my phone info. Theres not one centralized place for all this data.
But let's assume the government could get all this data into one centralized place. What could they do with it? What kind of predictions could they make with it? Theres not really alot they could use it for.

Worst case scenario, if a Hitler got control, they could categorize people however they wanted to. If for example, Hitler had this type of information, what would he have done with it?

Nothing? What good would this information have done for him? What would it have allowed him to do that he didn't do without it? And if it wouldn't have allowed him to do anything else, how would it have allowed him to more efficiently do what he was trying to do?

He would probably still try to improve his race through eugenics. I don't think having more data would change his mission.

That's what they want you to think!
