As much as I would like to see some good things come out of Trump's Administration (and I don't doubt there will be some good done), it is going to be very hard to like or trust the man after he pulled an unfounded character assassination against Ted, his wife and his father. Not to mention all the other ugly things he has said and done.
Yep.

First thought was they want him out of the Senate so he can't cause trouble when they don't repeal obamacare, one if Cruz's biggest issues.

Re: Trump's Staff and Cabinet

So Trump wants his son in law to have top secret clearance and be able to attend security briefings.

Trump hasn't stated what role he has in the administration, why should he be given this?

If Trump wants this, he should've made him the CoS instead of Priebus.

Bad idea. Hope it isn't allowed.

Why a bad idea?

He has no need to know. He's simply the son in law of the President-elect, with no defined role in the new administration. That would be like obama demanding his mother in law be given top secret clearance and permission to sit in on intelligence briefings.

Absurd!

Top secret designations and intelligence briefings should be limited by only those who are in administrative or government roles which require need to know.

Nepotism does not warrant need to know. Especially with regards to national security and top secret clearance.

Read between the lines. Trump wants him on staff.

Likely, but again, as what? The initial rumor was he would be the CoS, which has now been given to Priebus. Obviously all WH staff have a certain level of security clearances, but very few have top secret clearance with access to intelligence briefings. The WH Press Secretary, for example, does not have top secret clearance, nor do they attend intelligence briefings.

So regardless of wanting his son in law on staff, what role will he be in which requires the need for top secret clearance with access to intelligence briefings?
