Re: I remember when...
I remember starting this same topic thread notsolongago on another forum, Lots of good posts.
AND I remember lots of the things mentioned here already that i've read so far, but I want to add another: I remember a time when all girls [self incl] wore dressed like young ladies, [dresses/skirts only] to public (not church) school. :

Re: I remember when...
I mentioned elsewhere on this thread that I recieved the Holy Ghost in an RW Schambach crusade in Miami Florida. Heres what I didn't say...
When I got the Holy Ghost, my feet hit the floor runnin. I was 13 years old. The very first thing I wanted to do was to win souls for Jesus. I lived with woman and her family then. She was backslidden. I began asking her to go to the meeting with me. She finally said she'd go, if only she had a dress to wear (back then, you just diddn't go to a pentecostal meeting in anything but a dress- that is, if you were a woman). So..what did I do? I went knocking on doors. I knock on every door on our street til I found someone who was willing to loan a 13 year old boy a dress! I brought the dress home (luckily it fit) and we rode the city bus into Miami for the meeting.
During the song service, I felt the Spirit moving and I so wanted to dance "before the Lord" like David. But the devil sat on my shouler saying "What will Mae think? She'll think you're crazy!". So, I quenched the Spirit. But, curiosity got the best of me, so I peeked around to see how Mae was reacting to the shouting and praisng God. Only- she was gone! I thought she left. Feeling defeated (lost a soul to the devil), I moved my foot and touched something. Looking down at the Floor, I saw Mae,, flat on her back, hands raised in the air, speaking in tongues. I discovered she was praying through, while I was backslidding! Then the "Power" of God fell on me and I shouted and danced all over that auditorium.

Was it called The Conqueror?
I too am so amazed that though we were all miles apart, and we thought sometimes we were the only ones doing things the way we did that there are so many similarities. How did this happen especially with no internet? lol

I know...I mentioned this in an earlier post, too. Neat isn't it?!

Re: I remember when...
Quarterlies.... I remeber them from the church I was baptized at in Miami. The SS Teacher offered me one saying Here's your quarterly". I took it and tried to give her a quarter for it. I thought "Quarterly" meant that they costs 25 cents. Told ya I wasn't real bright.

I heard of one Adult Lesson Teacher who gave you four options
- Lesson leaflets that had the scriptures and the main thought on them
- The lessons in "Student" format
- Large Print Student format
- The "Teacher's Manual" of the lessons
The reasoning was if you could gleam something from the adult teacher's book, you were better blessed. I am not sure if they still print all this every quarter or not. Our church spent a small fortune on PPH Sunday School literature.

Re: I remember when...
When I was in high school, we had a farmer for a teacher. He was just a good ol' guy who loved the Lord, but basically just read from the teacher's manual. We loved him though. He had a glass eye and sometimes when it bothered him, he would pop it out and put it on the front seat during class. We thought that was so gross, but totally awesome!

And if you taught younger classes you received a package with flannel graphs to be used to help teach the lesson.
