Wink Galatian 3:19 given by Angels and not of God?

Galatians 3:19 "Wherefore then serveth the law? It was added because of transgressions, till the seed should come to whom the promise was made; and it was ordained by angels in the hand of a mediator."

Is this talking about the Angel of the Lord? Some denominal people are teaching the law is given by the devil due to this scripture. Explain what's this is saying in your best explaination.

That is a poor teaching of the meaning of this verse. But is stems from a poor translational usage of the Greek word ággelos. To put this in the right context it makes more sense using messengers rather than angels. Reading from a Greek translator you can see the flow of the text. It then can be easily understood that Abraham; Moses and the prophets would have been the messengers of the promise seed.

Interlinear Scripture Analyzer 3 Beta (CLV) Galatians 3:19
What, then, is the law? On behalf of transgressions was it added, until the Seed should come to Whom He has promised, being prescribed through messengers in the hand of a mediator.

Strong's G32: ággelos, (probably derived from G71; compare G34) (to bring tidings); a messenger; especially an "angel"; by implication, a pastor: angel, messenger.

This verse is pointing to our Messiah that was prophesied to Eve and promised to Abraham. He was the promised seed for the salvation of man.

Genesis 3:15 (KJV) And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.

Galatians 3:16 (KJV) Now to Abraham and his seed were the promises made. He saith not, And to seeds, as of many; but as of one, And to thy seed, which is Christ.

We know that the Christ is visible; and our Heavenly Father is invisible, yet one. The flesh of Christ provided atonement through faith; and removed the veil to the Holy of Holies, to give us access to the Holyghost.

Galatians 3:20 (KJV) Now a mediator is not a mediator of one, but God is one.

1Timothy 2:5 (KJV) For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus.

Now Jesus is our High priest that makes intercession for his children. His spirit makes intercession for us in prayer. Intercession is basically the act of interceding between two or more parties. And a mediator is more a legal term for a person who mediates between parties at variance.

Hebrews 4:15 (KJV) For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.

Romans 8:26 (KJV) Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.

Hebrews 9:15 (KJV) And for this cause he is the mediator of the new testament, that by means of death, for the redemption of the transgressions that were under the first testament, they which are called might receive the promise of eternal inheritance.

This is a progression from the old to new covenant. Under the Law one had to go through the Priests and sacrifices to have atonement between our Creator. We have direct access to our Father through the blood of atonement through the veil of Christ. When we fall or sin and confess our faults he is there to forgive. We need to strive not to sin again; and consecrate our lives, because of his grace.

Hebrews 8:6 (KJV) But now hath he obtained a more excellent ministry, by how much also he is the mediator of a better covenant, which was established upon better promises.

Hebrews 12:24 (KJV) And to Jesus the mediator of the new covenant, and to the blood of sprinkling, that speaketh better things than that of Abel.

1 John 2:1 (KJV) My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous.

You could use the Angel of the Lord in Matthew as being a messenger of the promise. But that usage is singular; and in this context, we are speaking in plurality. I do not believe this verse is talking about angels because Christ took on him the seed of Abraham. It was man who fell and men who foretold of a sacrifice for our salvation. I am not saying the Angel of the Lord did not play a role, but the mediation was needed between God and humanity.

Matthew 1:20 But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost. 21 And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins. 22 Now all this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying, 23 Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.

Hebrews 2:16 (KJV) For verily he took not on him the nature of angels; but he took on him the seed of Abraham.

ok my wife went to some crazy bible study and I was listening to the audio. I wish I could upload it, this man said that the law was given by Satan. That's why it said in that verse it was given by aggelos. And apparently he was reading these commentaries like the Knox and some other guys commentary that was backing this up. So I was wondering what kind of belief that is. This man was blaming everything on Satan, he went to the other side of the spectrum on this! But the whole the devil gave the law thing tripped me out. Thanks!

Re: Galatian 3:19 given by Angels and not of God?

This is the best I can do. I'm not uploading this non sense to my YouTube account. Here's the link. Y'all who don't believe the devil's behind anything will get a kick out of this. Apparently these people are on the other end of the spectrum where the Devil is behind everything, everything even the law..
