12 Get Holy Ghost!!

We had a Holy Ghost service tonight. Eddie taught on it and then asked people to come up who wanted it and we just sang and prayed and 12 new people got the Holy Ghost. There were Catholic, Church of Christ, Baptist and a few good heathens all up there speaking in tongues. Two were laying in the floor. It was awesome! I love those services!!!

Our Wednesday nights are WAY more Pentecostal than the Sunday mornings. We plan it that way on purpose. We have over 100 visitors on lots of Sundays; we try to bridge them into the Spirit filled life. That's what we felt like God was telling us to do when we came here to start this church - to be a bridge for those who are hungry for something new. But we have to do it carefully, in order not to scare them away. By the time they come to a Wednesday night service, they are used to us and trust us a little more. I know it's unconventional, but it's worked for us here.

We've never done things the "right" way.

Praise God! I love to read reports like this!!! And to think that you didn't have to dangle them over the pit and threaten them with eternal flames if they didn't speak in tongues!! Imagine that!! Ain't God good?

With the way you order your weekend services and midweek services it sounds like you are "seeker friendly" without some of the bad stuff that accompanies that term.

Great news about folks receiving the HGB!!!!!
just receiving the experience, not agonizing and pleading for that wonderful gift.

Well, I don't like that term, but we do feel like this is what God told us to do, and it has worked for this church. We feel like Sunday mornings are the "outer court" where everyone comes to repentance and baptism, but Wed. nights are the "holy place" and special services like tonight are the "holy of holies". We call these Encounter Services.
