I posted this on another thread but thought it might be of interest here!
Our late father and his mother had small-pox when he was a young boy.
His father and younger brother had their vaccinations and didn't get it.
Grandma and Dad hadn't received their shots yet, so they got small-pox
and were quarantined.
When Dad was drafted into the US Army in 1944, he told them he had
had small-pox and the small-pox immunizations would not take. They gave
him the shots and they didn't take.
In 1976 we siblings helped send Dad to the World Conference of the UPC
in Israel. He was required to take the shots. A local physician and friend
in our city, were to give Dad his shots. He told Dr.T. that he had had small-
pox as a child and the immunization would not take. Surprise, 50 yrs after
having the small-pox, the small-pox vaccination took. He could have had
small-pox again. Who knows how long the protection lasts!
