Are your prayers being answered?

What percentage of prayers you think of your are being answered?

Re: Are your prayers being answered?

I had a rambling thought...

What if I drink like a fish for 40 years and my liver fails, I might pray for a healing... and not receive it. Why? For 40 years I desired whatever the alcohol would bring to my health. One might pray to be healed of AIDS... but for years they lived a promiscuous life, desiring the pleasures of the flesh, regardless of the reality of AIDS. We put ourselves in dire financial circumstances by being unwise with our money, knowing full well what will come our way if we're not budgeting. Do we "really" want healed or delivered when praying for so many things that we've brought on ourselves through sinful or foolish behavior? Might we only want to be healed or delivered as it relates to our immediate circumstances as perceived by our conscious awareness... but in actuality we've fully agreed to the outcome in our "inner man"?

Great point! A better question might be - how many prayers are you praying that you get a "yes" to? ....

And honestly - I am glad that the Lord took His time and answered no many times to my prayers. His ways are always best.

Amen. "Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may
consume it upon your lusts."

But to the obedient, He says, "And this is the confidence that we have in him,
that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he hears us:
"And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have
the petitions
that we desired of him."

Re: Are your prayers being answered?

Amen. In practice, for me at least, this ends up translating into "ask for wisdom in a matter." I think you are always/usually in God's will then. Unfortunately, there is a sense in which you are asking for pain, or at least a "lesson," because as a rule you are asking for wisdom in an area where you have a blind spot, and the lesson removes the blind spot. Hopefully. Worse is to ask in God's will, get schooled, and fail to see or understand the lesson, because then you obviously need a little stronger lesson...i have actually been blinded to the first two lessons ouch. The third one usually costs you some skin!

So true. Most of the time, prayer requests are for God to "do something" for me. If prayer requests began with "Lord, so something IN me".... we might see a real revival take place.

Instead of praying to receive something for me, perhaps we should start praying "Lord, do something IN me"!!!
