Houston, I believe Jay and I were both speaking of the Acts 2:38, New Testament plan of salvation. That is the message being spoken about in this thread!

Amen. That is exactly what we were discussing.

Bro. Jay,
Perhaps you would be willing to share your "more colorful" family history with us. Our own history has been far from dull. In most family histories, you will find your good and also your sad times. However, God has been with us in the good and in the bad/sad times.

Re: Jesus, The Apostles and Present Day Witnesses

Sadly, my meaning of colorful simply means that many in my extended family are backsliders or the children of backsliders, and sadly there are only a very few that live for God today. I pray for them all.

Oh, by all means pray for them all. Not all of our family on my mother's side or my father's side have obeyed the truth. But we continue to pray for them and let our lights shine.

Re: Jesus, The Apostles and Present Day Witnesses

I have many more relatives who are backslid than are living for God. They started out well but they eventually let other things replace their love for God. Some of these were even in the ministry.

Bro. Jay,
By all means, we must NEVER give up on our loved ones or anyone who has once known the LORD in the Power of the Holy Ghost. Neither those who have never known of this wonderful Saviour who came to set the captives. HE (JESUS) is the only ONE who can save anyway. But we can love them with the love of God shed abroad in our hearts by the HOLY GHOST. ROMANS 5:5.
Pray without ceasing. Don't ever stop praying for them
.
