Did the Father forsake the Son?

On the cross Jesus cried "My God, My God, why have you forsaken me?"

Explain.

Re: Did the Father forsake the Son?

He was quoting Psalm 22:1, signifying what was happening.

No, He was not forsaken, in the sense God abandoned Him.

Re: Did the Father forsake the Son?

Psalm 22 the whole chapter it describes perfectly the events of the crucifixion and the mockery of the Judean religious. Where the Psalm starts off with Eloi, Eloi, Lammasabcthani, Matthew ends the event with that quote. Which would of smacked the Pharisees right in the teeth. Since unknowingly the were fulfilling everything in Psalm 22.

Mt. 27:46 and Mark 15:34 are the passages in question.

My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?

Taking the passage at face value, God forsake Jesus Christ on the cross.

Did God forsake Him? Or did He feel forsaken because He felt the weight of the sins of the world upon Him?

Neither, Jesus was actually telling the people who were cursing Him that they were fullfilling scripture.
