Re: Riddle Me This!
That's one reason we left or Apostolic/Pentecostal Church, my wife was finally seeing they were not living like they preached as far as the Standards go, skirts getting shorter hair being trimmed, etc, etc, etc. I think a change will occur, the Apostolic/Pentecostal identity is slipping away, it is hard now to tell your Apostolic girl from a none Apostolic girl if they are in the same clothes in todays time. As far as the music goes we sing songs in our A/G church that we sang in our Apostolic/Pentecostal church go figure, same songs about the Godhead.

Re: Riddle Me This!
There is this song that I love. It's called, "No one ever cared for me, like Jesus." I have said many times, I just love a song that you KNOW that person has experienced a first hand taste of the Lord. I do not turn on gospel radio. For that matter, I do not turn on the radio, the tv or anything else that I feel I shouldn't listen to. I do listen to Holy Ghost radio but I think that's a different radio. There are many songs out there, meaningless, they are songs about a God they don't know so therefore they can't sing about the unknown. HOWEVER, even if a person not knowing "Truth" (a trinitarian) quotes scriptures in their song from the Bible, then.... Isaiah 55:11 So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it. God can use an ass. God can use a fool. God can use anyone for HIS purpose, HIS kingdom, HE is KING and it's ALL about THE KING AND HIS KINGDOM. So, it doesn't if someone wrote a song and they are trinitarian or Apostolic, God's word is forever. The devil might get a laugh out of a little debate but JESUS' word is still going forth..... So, I sing because I'm happy, I sing because I'm FREE...... wooooweeee, it's a great day to give God some glory!!!

Re: Riddle Me This!
I care about the content of a song. I don't care that much about the author, or even his personal motivation at the time of penning. I believe God can inspire anyone to write something that glorifies Him--they may not even realize it at the time.
If we judged songs by their authors--whether OP, trinitarian, atheist, etc.--and not their ultimate inspiration and final content/message, we would have nothing to sing.

I also don't believe that belief that every Christian singer that goes to a trinitarian church is a trinitarian. Many Christians in the pew don't understand the doctrine and chalk it up to mystery. Again, no offence.

I feel sorry for you for what you have experienced, but I Thank God for my world where we can still tell the difference.

This has been a very civil thread.

Same goes for non-Trinitarians or those who are just uncommitted who rail on OPs as if it's just a Oneness thing

You should realize then that your pastor is the exception, not the rule in old time Oneness Pentecost.
I have repeatedly hear throughout my life from UPC pulpits and the mouths of UPC saints that all trinitarians are going to hell.
Which brings up a good point. If your pastor and church are 3 steppers what makes you think he doesn't think all trinitarians are going to hell? It is built in his doctrine to believe so.

"We did not wear uniforms. The lady workers dressed in the current fashions of the day, ...silks...satins...jewels or whatever they happened to possess. They were very smartly turned out, so that they made an impressive appearance on the streets where a large part of our work was conducted in the early years.
"It was not until long after, when former Holiness preachers had become part of us, that strict plainness of dress began to be taught.
"Although Entire Sanctification was preached at the beginning of the Movement, it was from a Wesleyan viewpoint, and had in it very little of the later Holiness Movement characteristics. Nothing was ever said about apparel, for everyone was so taken up with the Lord that mode of dress seemingly never occurred to any of us."
