Nobody DESERVES anything but the lake of fire.
But as for the nation, the nation has collectively sinned, and is collectively still in rebellion against God. Therefore the nation is not godly. Therefore the nation is not currently suited for Constitutional government. Which is why we haven't had Constitutional government for a century or more. Neither the federal nor state nor local governments actually adhere to the Constitution. They will cite the Constitution when it suits them, and disregard it when it suits them. So Adams was right, and we are reaping what we have sown.
I have no doubt there are godly people in the nation. I have no doubt that is the reason why there still is a nation. But until we see a national movement towards repentance there will be no national reformation. And until the church begins preaching and living that repentance, the nation will continue to blunder along towards the pit. The church's mission in America is to disciple America to obey Christ in all things.
Once that mission is taken seriously, the nation will experience REAL revival, a REAL turning back to God, a REAL reformation. It won't be instantaneous, we didn't get in this mess overnight and we aren't getting out of it overnight. But the process begins with you and me submitting to God's Word in all things, and US showing our neighbor how and why that is and must be done. From there it spreads, until the nation is no longer suited for the corruption and tyranny we currently have, and so the system is "turned upside down" and righteousness is established.
As go the people, so goes the government.
