Remember, Remember the 7th of December

Today is December 7, Pearl Harbor Day. Just 2 generations ago our country and the lives of our loved ones were forever changed.

This is my grandfather, as a young Sergeant in the United States Army Reserves. He would survive the war having earned his way up in rank to Captain.

His wife's twin brother, my great-uncle, Captain Edward Stack would not come home.

Thanks- It's nothing short of miracle that they made it out alive.
my father use to sit and cry when he thought about how God brought him out alive when almost everyone around him died

My grandpa fought in WWII. He never spoke about it - even when asked questions. He passed away in 1992 without ever having shared his story.

(As a side note, today is my mom's 58th birthday!)

I was thinking of this today. Such a moment in history and honestly this day has been kind of relegated to the pages of dusty history books.

But it was and should remain a day we remember. the lives of millions turned on a dime that day. thousands of families ceased to exist because of that day.

Men lined up as never before and never since to march into battle, willing to die so that generations of Americans could live in freedom.

may God bless those who served and may God bless the families of those that lost so much in the cause of freedom.

We owe that generation a debt we cannot pay.

He actually "borrowed" that phrase from Rush Limbaugh's book The Way It Ought to Be. Rush had a chapter called "The Greatest Generation" dedicated to the WW2 generation.

Being the humble and quietly spoken individual that he is, Limbaugh never made too big of a deal about the obvious clone of his idea. Instead, he allowed us all to marvel at the greatness of the aforementioned generation. He knew Brokow was just echoing a great idea.
