2020 Primary Thread

What a show!

Almost a day later, (today at 5pm ET) the Iowa Democrat Party is supposed to finally release "at least 50%" of the caucus results. I have been cracking up watching clips on Twitter of CNN and MSNBC and the various campaign supporters just flipping out over what happened in Iowa.

Last night, the IDP stated it was holding the results pending "quality control." They claimed the results were accurate, but they just wanted to be sure all three numbers (pop vote, delegate count, and some other number) matched.

Late last night, it came out that the IDP was using a phone app designed and released for the Iowa and Nevada Caucus'. Some were accusing the app of crashing, but the IDP said no it wasn't the app.

This morning it was revealed that it was indeed coding in the app which was faulty and caused the app to report inaccurate numbers.

Guess who the company is who made the app? It's a company run by almost a dozen (EDIT: read there were 8-10, but only able to confirm four) former Hillary Clinton campaign aides.

One thing which seemed odd at the time last night -- most of the candidates (Warren, Biden, Sanders, Klobuchar) gave a speech late to say they feel good about their chances but are waiting for the results. One candidate didn't get that memo. Buttigieg came out and declared victory. And today he's still claiming victory.

Guess who paid the app company $42,500 last summer? Pete Buttigieg.

This is the reason "PeteTheCheat" and "MayorCheat" are trending on Twitter.

Re: 2020 Primary Thread

Bloomberg announced this morning that he's doubling his ad buys (already has spent over $200 Million) and doubling his campaign staff in preparation for Super Tuesday, March 3rd.

He didn't campaign in Iowa; reportedly completely ignored the caucus and didn't spend a dime there.

He's hoping to get Biden's moderate supporters once Biden drops out.

Re: 2020 Primary Thread

So apparently the rules in Iowa are if there are two candidates tied, someone flips a coin and whoever wins the coin toss, wins the delegates.

This coin toss was fine ...

He pauses, looks like he's messing with the coin, opens his palm, says heads and then appears to turn it over again.

How would you like your vote to be nullified by a coin toss??? Good grief!

Biden will hang in there. But Hillary is waiting in the wings. We may see a Biden/Clinton ticket.

Biden will be lucky to make it to Super Tuesday. His problem right now is money. He spent months in Iowa and had 2 weeks largely to himself, with Sanders, Warren and Klobuchar held up in the Senate ... and he still fell flat on his face. If he can limp to Super Tuesday he'll win some delegates, but I don't believe he will win the nomination.

I don't believe HRC is coming to save the day for the Dems. She's not on the ballots. She's missed every state deadline to file.

I don't believe she would play second fiddle to bumbling Biden. I also heard him say that he's healthy and isn't suicidal. /tic

Re: 2020 Primary Thread

NH Primary results:
Trump won more votes than the last 3 incumbent POTUS' in NH.
1996, Clinton: 79,797
2004, W: 53,962
2012, Zero: 49,080
2020, Trump: 129,021

Now, the Trump campaign points to this as a yuuuuge thing, and it is a big increase from the past 3 incumbents. But they believe NH will swing to Trump in November, but I don't see that.

Look at the vote numbers from the Dem primary:
Bernie: 75,923
Pete: 72,159
Amy: 58,535

Am I missing something? Just the top two vote amounts are enough to win NH for the Dems.

It's a good showing for Trump, but unless Dems stay home in November, I don't believe NH will flip.
