I also received email from Steve's mom indicating that the oldest two children, Meghan and Barak, will be coming to the States this weekend from Singapore to be with Steve, Barb and the youngest child. Please pray for their safe travel.

Thank you for the update. I have been praying for the Willoughby family especially Bro. Willoughby.

Re: Missionary Steve Willoughby - URGENT request

they are beginning to think it is not cancer but a viral infection, parasite, or something of this nature picked up in his foreign travel in 3rd world countries...

also, THE BLOOD CLOT IN THE JUGLAR VEIN HAS TOTALLY DISAPPEARED. It is a miracle – as a result, he can sit up in a chair in his room which they brought in – he was up walking today 3 times around the hospital area – they can give him something to help him sleep now for the jetlag – and they can proceed with their scans, biopsies, etc., without having to worry about the danger of the blood clot moving and like complications. Now we just have to knock out the rest of the lesions on the brain and the lungs.

Re: Missionary Steve Willoughby - URGENT request

The following is the latest update posted at www.tabjoy.org which is the website for Bro. Willoughby's church in Singapore. Although this doesn't address the issue of the brain tumors or the bleeding on the brain, I believe prayer is making a difference!

Dear Friends,

Firstly, thank you for your continuous prayers for Bro and Sis Willoughby and Tabernacle of Joy. Your selfless dedication in standing alongside us at this difficult time has touched us deeply.

On Monday, 17 November 2008, Bro Willoughby underwent a lung biopsy. The doctors were unable to find any growth in the lungs however they did find a growth in the space between the lung and the heart which was removed. The histopathologist confirmed that the growth is cancer. Additional investigations will be undertaken on Tuesday, 18 November to determine the type and origin of the cancer.

Since his admission to hospital over a week ago, the atypical presentation of Bro Willoughby's illness has confounded the doctors. Without a firm, conclusive diagnosis, the doctors are unable to formulate an appropriate treatment plan. The focus of prayer at this time should be as follows:

That the full extent of this sinister illness in Bro Willoughby's body will reveal itself
That the doctors will have the wisdom and clinical acumen to order the appropriate tests and devise an appropriate treatment plan.
This battle is not yet over, but this battle belongs to the Lord.

Standing on His promises

Re: Missionary Steve Willoughby - URGENT request

Update from Tabernacle of Joy this morning, November 20th:

Quote:
Dear Friends,

I’ll start this note today with an update on Sis Barbara Willoughby. When I spoke to her Wednesday evening, she was feeling much better as she had been able to get a good night’s rest. Thank you for your continued prayer support for Sis Barbara and her family.

A decision has now been made to seek specialized oncology treatment for Bro Willoughby at the Memorial Sloan-Kettering (MSK) Cancer Center in New York, New York. Unfortunately, the doctors at Georgetown have been unable to give Bro Willoughby a firm diagnosis or full treatment plan. The Georgetown doctors have tentatively planned to discharge Bro Willoughby on Thursday, 20 November. The Willoughbys will travel to New York once the appropriate accommodation arrangements have been finalised. The key prayer pointers at this time are as follows:

• That God will provide suitable accommodation for the Willoughbys as they begin this next stage in their journey
• That God will assign the specialists to treat and care for both Bro and Sis Willoughby
• That God will open up specialist appointments next week
• That a definitive diagnosis will be made regarding Bro Willoughby’s condition
• That God will give the specialists wisdom in formulating the best treatment plan for Bro Willoughby
• That Bro Willoughby will have regular bowel movements as the Georgetown doctors are concerned about possible infection due to constipation

Lastly, Sis Willoughby is the key caregiver to Bro Willoughby despite the fact she is also undergoing oncology treatment. Please continue to uphold her prayer and ask God to sustain her and provide for all her needs be they physical, emotional, spiritual or financial.

In addition to your prayer support, some of you have asked about providing financial support to the Willoughbys. An account has now been established at the Bank of America. The details are as follows:

Account Name: United Pentecostal Missions Inc. [Steve Willoughby Family Fund]
Account Number:
RT Number:

(Contact Admin if you want this information)

Words are not enough to say thank you for all your prayer support, your expressions of encouragement and words of faith. I pray that whatever need is present in your life at this time, that God will meet that need today.

Believing in the Power of His Name

Re: Missionary Steve Willoughby - URGENT request

This update is also posted now on the website. Barb definitely needs to be uplifted as well as Steve and the children.

Update: Thursday 20th November 2008

Dear Friends

Pastor Timothy and I were able to speak to Sis Willoughby today. Earlier in the day, she had an appointment with an oncologist. The past week has been very difficult for Sis Willoughby as she has had to cope with the news of her husband's illness. The oncologist found that her blood pressure was very high and that she has a throat infection. She is also experiencing new side effects from the chemotherapeutic medication that she is currently on. Because of her current condition, her chemotherapy session scheduled for Friday, 21 November may have to be postponed. The oncologist will review her blood work and order a PET scan if necessary.

Sis Willoughby needs our prayers more than ever. Not only does she require physical strength, but also emotional and spiritual as she provides support to Bishop Willoughby and her children. Prayers that can make a difference in Sis Willoughby's life at this time are as follows:

That her body will respond well to the medication that she is taking
That God will renew her physically, emotionally and spiritually
That she will find rest in His everlasting, ever-loving arms
Wisdom to make godly and timely decisions concerning Bro Willoughby's treatment
For a hedge of protection to surround her mind and her emotions
For fighting faith
Thanking you once again for your prayer support.

Abiding in His Grace
