Brethern, I want to clarify the things about "my convictions your convictions".

* There is right and there is wrong.

* Then there how much of the law shall we keep, and not judging those that want to keep more than it should (clean/unclean, OT festivities, etc...) (Rom 14)

* Then there is "I won't use the internet because it makes me sin" kind of thing that may not be a temptation to others (Mat 18:8-9)


* Then there are of course people that overthink things incorrectly.

Am I missing a point? is the "my conviction/your conviction" language a way to just be polite?

There is the Word. Man shall live by every word that comes out of the mouth of God.

Then there are doubtful disputations, areas the Word does not specify commands etc.

Then there are those who make things up for other people to follow. Like the pope.

I've heard people say that rounded birthday cakes are pagan. Don't know the specifics as to why they believe such, but I've heard it said.

Putting candles on a cake has pagan religious origins, if I'm not mistaken. Don't know about having a cake, though, seems pretty standard to have a sweet cake or something on a special occasion.

Last year my wife made a TARDIS cake for our youngest. Had two Dr Who action figures and trees and stuff plus a big blue TARDIS in the center with a blinking light on top, the TARDIS was made out of cookie with blue icing. Said "Police Box" and all, little windows included.

The Dr of course was Tom Baker, and the other was the Master from the end of the 4th Dr before he stole Nyssa Traken's dad's body.
