My mom called me a bit ago and said that her husband fell and broke his ankle in three places. He has to have surgery and will probably have to go to a nursing home for rehab because my mom isn't able to care for him.
He's been falling lately and my mom doesn't know why. He's only 68, but he's a frail, old man.
It doesn't help that he also has an extreme case of Tourette's syndrome, making his recovery even more hindered. And pray for the nursing staff that also have to deal with him. He swears a lot but doesn't mean what he says. He has a lot of unwelcome behaviors that takes a special person to deal with him and be effective.
I'm not able to be there (in Virginia) because I'm almost done with school. My brother is there but works 18 hours a day on most days.
My mom is also scheduled to have gastric bypass surgery in mid-April. I told her to just worry about herself. She is stressed though.
Thanks, everyone.

May God bring about just what is needed for this particular situation. I have a very
close friend, who had a situation concerning her 94 yr. old mother. She retired in order
to take care of her mother and the doctor became concerned about her. He said her
mother was being taken care of wonderfully, but my dear friend just returned home
yesterday from one month in the hospital, three weeks spent in ICU from total exhaustion
herself. I believe God intervened on her behalf and took the situation out of her hands.
Sometimes the situation is too hard on the caregiver, although they are willing. God knows
how much we can bear. My friend's mother is in a senior care facility and doing well.
May God work out this situation for the good of all concerned, in Jesus Name!

My mom called me yesterday and told me that the doctor told her that he also broke a toe on his right foot. Not a big deal, but her husband calls her crying because he wants to come home. He is very dependant on her and she isn't able to be with him as often as she'd like.
They also cannot do the surgery until the swelling goes down, and they said that could take a week or two. My mom also had to get rid of his chickens (and if you knew John, you'd know that his chickens are his life). He doesn't know this and won't until he comes home, but my brother will buy him more when he comes home and is able to care for them.
Thanks to everyone for their prayers.

That is sad, HO. I remember when my FIL took my MIL to the Nursing home for the first time. She clung to him and said, "Don't leave me here!!" It makes me tear up every time I think of it.
