Bone soup
The poor people get bones that butchers throw away and my it makes good soup.

Thank you for sharing your pictures Sister Alvear--It's sad that all they have to use is bones for their soup, although I have to admit it looks like something I have seen my hispanic relatives make.

I am not too much a soup person...but our people make lots of soup and use those big bones.. Really it is a little greasey but I would never hurt their feeling so I eat it and give thanks for it...many go to bed hungry every night...

My wife makes a bean soup that looks a lot like that. Ham hocks used for flavor. We're probably fortunate to get a bit more meat on the bone however. But it's a good soup with corn bread.

Bones have a lot of flavor in them, especially from the marrow. We use bones to make broth with in restaurants.
