IPad for Songbook

Does anyone use or recommend an IPad app to replace bulky songbooks?

Do you mean for church where everyone has an Ipad instead of a song book?

Apostolic is defined on AFF as:

  1. There is One God. This one God reveals Himself distinctly as Father, Son and Holy Ghost.
  2. The Son is God himself in a human form or "God manifested in the flesh" (1Tim 3:16)
  3. Every sinner must repent of their sins.
  4. That Jesus name baptism is the only biblical mode of water baptism.
  5. That the Holy Ghost is for today and is received by faith with the initial evidence of speaking in tongues.
  6. The saint will go on to strive to live a holy life, pleasing to God.

Re: IPad for Songbook

Most of the people will be surfing the internet, posting on AFF, etc instead of paying attention to the song.

Re: IPad for Songbook

Hymnbooks serve a valuable purpose.

First of all, they contain (or are supposed to, anyway) the 'songs of the church', songs that have been handed down from generation to generation. It is in essence a history of the faith and prayers and testimonies of believers throughout the ages, expressed in song. These things should not be abandoned, as then we cut off the future generations from an important connection to their past.

Secondly, hymnbooks provide a valuable source of theology (again, supposed to, at least) for the church. If you want to know a church's theology, look at their hymnbook. One can learn a lot about doctrine, faith, practice, etc from simply reading through the hymns and songs of a church hymnal.

Thirdly, hymnbooks are hard copy. Far too much literature is being laced 'online' or in e-copy and the hard copies are being abandoned. Nothing wrong with having e-copies of something, but have a hard copy as well. Been to a library lately? They suck. Period. And tons of books have failed to get placed 'online', although they have been removed from libraries and now are very hard if not impossible to find. We are actually facing a crisis of knowledge. Google has gotten to where you can't hardly find any relevant or REAL information, especially about scientific or historical things. Once the books are all gone, all knowledge will be in the hands of the 'py00terz' and their programmers and operators. Not a good thing. Save the books, and start with the hymnals.

Of course, all this presupposes a decent, well thought out hymnal to begin with, which 'Sing Unto The Lord' is really not. It's a nice collection of various songs, but hardly a HYMNAL in the traditional sense.

Re: IPad for Songbook

As for 'singing with the hymnal', what would be the difference between everyone staring at a book in their hands vs everyone staring at a far more expensive and far more easily distracable Ipad in their hands?

Re: IPad for Songbook

Depends... are you looking for use with a worship team to see chord charts or for the congregation to use?

If it is for worship team purposes... OnSong is the way to go!
You can change key's easily, edit lyrics, create sets, etc..
