After being upset about Bishop White's incorrect teaching on the initial evidence, I'm now emotionally distant and curious. I'm silently observing, wanting to know what else there is that might be unorthodox. I can't stay forever though because remaining is giving approval and I know that leadership has invited UPCI people to join True Vine mentioning that I'm there.

My friends, see how sweet the deception will sound.

You may not be old enough to remember, but this is what the old time preachers used to warn about... the coming "One World Religion."

Once the momentum tips fully in that direction, there will be no coming back from the great deception. Nearly all Christians will embrace it as if it is the move of God.

Allow me to share a different perspective on historic denominations...

They are actually a record of our journey as we have clawed our way out of the Papal Roman system and back toward the original Apostolic Faith.

The Lutherans broke from the Pope of Rome.

The Baptists restored biblical immersion in water instead of Papal sprinkling.

The Church of Christ restored the Lord's Table as our "oft" celebrated Memorial.

The Assemblies of God restored the gifts of the Spirit.

The United Pentecostals restored the one Name in Baptism, revealing the Oneness of the Godhead.

The 7th Day Adventists restored God's original 7th Day Sabbath instead of Papal SUN-day veneration.

The Jehovah's Witnesses restored the "Renewed Paradise Earth" message rather than the "rapture away into a star kingdom."

The Hebrew Roots movement restored the celebration of the biblical festivals revealing Messiah.

And now the Covenant Apostolics preach all these restored truths in one place... ALL THE WORD TO ALL THE WORLD!

The "Post Denominational Era" mentioned above will strip the church of these hard fought gains.

It will sweep us deceptively back toward the "mystic" religion of Rome... A religion that embraces non-scriptural practices as spiritual.

Remember, it was Pagan Rome who assimilated the heathen practices into a worldwide mystery religion and called it Christianity.

The Assemblies of God (AG) teaches that the gifts of the Spirit are:

1. Essential for the empowerment of believers for witness and service (Acts 1:8).
2. Available to all believers, not just a select few (1 Corinthians 12:7-11).
3. To be used for the edification of the church and the spread of the Gospel (1 Corinthians 14:12, 26).

The AG recognizes nine gifts of the Spirit, as listed in 1 Corinthians 12:8-10:

1. Word of wisdom
2. Word of knowledge
3. Faith
4. Healing
5. Miracles
6. Prophecy
7. Discerning of spirits
8. Speaking in tongues
9. Interpretation of tongues

Key teachings:

- The gifts are not a sign of spiritual maturity, but rather a manifestation of God's grace.

Well, the gifts of the Spirit have been around forever.
As a “doctrinal group”, the first ones out of the reformation period that were big on gifts manifestations were the anabaptists, then, in the USA, the quakers, and others.
Whoever wrote that needs a little bit more history education or just be more accurate with his writings.

Regarding the JW and the paradise on earth, he is right about that needing restoration.
You can’t imagine how much I see Apostolic UPCI ministers that don’t really manifest a belief in the resurrection. When they speak about the promise we have, everything ends in “heaven”

It is concerning because that is indeed a salvation issue.

This post is wrong. After digging through the AoG website, I realize that they do believe in speaking in tongues as initial evidence, just not required for salvation.
