Their dumbbells go up to 70 lbs. you can’t grunt. If you do you’re asked to leave for intimidating people.
They give free pizza and donuts.
Unreal.

A cult is a very good discription.
The most popular dumbbell size is 10lb and 20lbs for entry level. People have a give up level, and will automatically stop during a set.
Without proper training to the entry level lifter, they either make it up, have bad form, or quit. Gyms usually bank on quitters, and no shows. No shows are the ones who pay for the year and never set a foot in the gym. Planet fitness is no different. They just want the lion share of the New Year resolution never bes.
People need to be convinced to train, and then encouraged to never give up.
Sweat, grunting, pain, is a part of heavy lifting. Once they see the results they get the Iron Bug, but even then they have to be motivated to continue on the path of strength. Planet Fitness just wants you to come as you are and stay as you are. Just pay your membership and look like your training if you show up.
