These are not low-end, low-paying, no growth kinds of jobs!

Our job market is robust and strong-- with not enough skilled laborers!

Not everyone needs to go to college to compete for these decent paying jobs!

That right there is the key!! As long as Uncle Sam keeps redistributing MY "wealth" in the form of subsidies to someone else's rent and food bill, giving out free phones, heating assistance and an endless list of "entitlements," where is the motivation for these folks to go out and get trained for one of these jobs?

The trucking industry is one of the most heavily regulated industries in America, and yet one of the most crucial. There is a trucking shortage because of all the laws that are imposed upon truck drivers and little to no appreciation for them out on the road. I speak from very personal experience with a family member who owns a trucking company.

When it came to the trades, it used to be that your dad knew a guy who knew a guy who would give you chance based on your papa's word. You'd start off ground level, and if you worked hard, you'd have a job for the rest of your life.

It's not that way now. Entry level positions in the trades are nearly non-existent. Too many companies refuse to take a chance on a green employee. The job skills gap is, in part, a creation of the trades industry being too timid and too afraid of various legal woes and temporary loss in profits.

Too many outfits have been burned by bums who want to make 25.00/hour, but don't want to do what it takes to be worthy of that income.

As it pertains to the trucking industry, it's not just get your CDL and drive. Driver burnout is a massive burden. It's not about having the requisite skills. It's also about having the physical ability to drive 12 hours a day (often at night), 1,000 miles from hearth and home for up to 2 weeks at a time.

The toll it takes is incredible, especially on marriages.

So because the job makes someone uncomfortable it should be written off as not good enough?

I think the point was that it is not about the money, but about the toll it takes on someone's personal life.
