The King James Version Defended

I just found this entire book online. I have owned for about 25 years and just today learned it is entirely free for reading online.

http://www.biblebelievers.com/KJV_Defended_Hills.html
The King James Version Defended

Edward F. Hills (1912-1981) A.B. - Yale, Th.M. - Columbia, Th.D. - Harvard. Because the Gospel is true and necessary for the salvation of souls, the true Bible text has been preserved down through the ages by God's special providence and is found today in the King James Version. Examine the proofs of this fact. The subject is discussed from every angle. The placement of this online book is by the copyright holder, Mrs. Edward Hills, as implied by her wish that this online edition be made available in its entirety, unaltered and at no cost to the recipient who downloads this excellent book. If you wish to download this file in MS Word, WordPerfect, or HTML, click here... ISBN: 0-915923-00-9
It is not a clumsy KJV-only sorta book. VERY scholarly.

Re: The King James Version Defended

I didn't read the book or even download it but have to wonder?

Which version of the KJV is the "Word of God"?

The one with the typo that said, "Thou shalt commit adultery"?

The one that spells Jesus with an "I" because the letter "J" was not in common use yet?

The one (like my 1611 version) that includes the apocrypha?

just funnin' with you, Bro. Blume.
I'm not KJV only but it and the NKJV are my favorites.

lol.

It is a great book. I use other versions, but the TR is the best source, which the KJV uses, as well as the Geneva.

I don't believe the KJV (in its variations over the years) is the only version acceptable to God. I also use other versions.

I don't think those 2 "older" manuscripts should just be taken blindly as preferable to the TR.

But then, I also like
1 John 5:7
Mark 16:9-11
Mark 17:21 and Mark 9:29
John 8:1-11
Acts 8:37 and 9:6
that I can think of right now

Re: The King James Version Defended

I 'prophesied' many years ago that the UPC wold trade their KJV's in for more liberal translations - and I have lived to see that come to pass, how sad.

I also like the Tyndale version.

When I typed Mark 16:9-11, I meant Mark 16:9-20
and when I typed Mark 17:21, I meant Matthew 17:21

I'm not very adept at "typing" or, I guess the term is now "inputting" or something like that since we don't have typewriters any more.

Re: The King James Version Defended

I was indoctrinated as a child that the King James was the only authoritive translation because it was (supposed to be) unbiased in the last 20 years I have come to the conclusion God would not let his word become distorted but had his hand on all translations. The things of importance are in the word. Legalistic and performance based religions are the ones preaching for KJV. Religions hmmm that is where it all come from I think. God did not come to the world robed in flesh to start a new relegion, He did that with the Jew and it did not work. He came in flesh to reconsile the world back to himself that we can have the proper relatonship with him he desires.

Re: The King James Version Defended

He did come to reconcile 'us' back to Himself - He wants that relationship, and that's the most important thing. I prefer the KJV because I enjoy the way it reads, and have no trouble understanding what it says to me; however, I know that there are many people who like reading the other version because they are easier for them to understand. I think the important thing is reading it, and allowing it to speak to us to give us guidance from here to glory.
