Take Up Your Cross Daily

Mark 10:21 Then Jesus beholding him loved him, and said unto him, One thing thou lackest: go thy way, sell whatsoever thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come, take up the cross, and follow me.

Mat 16:24 Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.

Mark 8:34 And when he had called the people unto him with his disciples also, he said unto them, Whosoever will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.

Luke 9:23 And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me.

Mark 10:21 mentions take up "the" cross. All the rest says "his" cross. Only one says Daily.

What is the cross to take up?

Is it your burden or God's?

I have heard it said many times we have our "own" cross to bear.

But notice He first said DENY HIMSELF. You can't pick up the cross unless you deny yourself.

So is the cross you bear the cross of the Kingdom?

Deny yourself and take up His cross daily, will that work? Is that it?

Yes, we must die to fleshly desire. We must seek first His Kingdom and rightousness, not our own.

But what do you think the cross is?

His cross for His Kingdom OR as many have taught your weakness in an area.

A Cross is good for one thing only-to Crucify!

We crucify our flesh, our desires, our will.

Could that weakness be a means to an end?

But is that what the scriptures are talking about?

Your weakness OR His work?

Well, we all our to Crucify the flesh-Bible also says not my will but thine be done.

We can do it willingly, or have Jesus help us by allowing infirmities to let us die to the flesh.

Another thing I failed to mention He consistently said "follow me" after you pick up your cross.

To deny yourself would be to crucify your will to His.
