Halloween do you celebrate? why or whynot?
halloween is coming up soon and my wife and I were recently disscussing whether we would be participating. my cousin has a annual party at her camp. it's a big thing and we have always went..this year she dosent want to go. she said she feels convicted over it. So I decided to look up the holidays history. according to the History channels website, it was started in ireland as a celtic holiday. samhain pronounced (Sow-in) was thought to be a time when the worlds of the dead and living were blured which made it easier for celtic priest to give psycic predictions. It was celebrated on the irish new years eve oct . 31 . during the festivities they did build bonfires for animal sacrafices and to burn crops. Now obviously this is nothing any of us would participate in. eventually after the roman catholics took over the county they dropped the animal sacrafice and all the other pagan activities.
Now the halloween celebrations I see now dont differ that much from the Harvest parties at church. all that said we will not be going, if my wife sees it as a stumbling block I would never ask her to participate. I dont really see anything wrong with the activities we participate In. I also understand that they are decendants of an evil religon. What are your opinions?
