Since when...........

Our pastor was teaching Bible Study last evening and made a comment that struck me. I thought maybe it would give you all a little something to gnaw on, too.

Our pastor teaches part-time at the University of Toledo. He was talking with another prof about how disheartening it is when you see church organizations taking a vote on things like whether to ordain homosexuals, etc. The other prof looked at him and agreed with him, then made the comment, "Since when did theology become evolutionary?"

Since Acts 15 when the Apostles and elders in the Jerusalem church decided Gentile converts were not required to keep the Law of Moses.

I got the impression that what they were trying to say is that 'if it was good for Paul and Silas, then it's good enough for me'. And if it was wrong for Paul, then it's wrong for me. That kind of thing.

The point is that the message of Christ has not changed.
PEOPLE have changed. People have tried to change the message. But the message remains the same.

I love it when academicians start discussing or proclaiming the disconnect between science and the abstract or spiritual. Most of it is done, as evidenced above, through cute comments, soundbites, and innuendo.

Most of them don't know enough of either topic, therefore it is easy to dismiss out of hand for purposes of propaganda and self promotion.

Anyone who truly knows and understands the Nature of God Almighty (only attainable through HIS word), can see the direct parallel between the two.

I believe Sister Marge that even in Pauls day there were those who did not accept his teachings within the church. He was down working among the
"unclean."

Yes!!! Exactly!!! Many churches try to bend scripture to fit what fits their life instead of the other way around...we should be bending our lives to fit scripture!!!

Yeah... and 'liberal' churches don't have a monopoly on that market.

AMEN! The Wod of God is forever settled in heaven. What does the scripture teach us about those who add to or take aways from? Something about hell and fire...if I recall correctly!

Blessings, Rhoni
