the drive.

seems we have alot of fussing over this issue or that at this board and it may very well be, just folks wanting to know more about bible to learn and that not really a bad thing for sure,..

but i dont see people talking about a DRIVE FOR MORE OF GOD . i teach my young preachers if you want a move of god in your life you must move god.
so how do you move god in your life .
YOU NEED A DRIVE. are you driven to pray? driven to fast ? driven to seperate from your family to seek god for days? this is not popular today but we need it bad .. we need someone to motivate us ,to provoke us to seek him.
MANY STOP SEEKING HIM WHEN THEY receive the holy ghost ,they just sit aropund waiting for him to come .. i am afraid those folks will miss the boat.
I HAVE A DRIVE IN ME i never want to go away . i must seek him ,, his will ,his direction in my life and the direction for our church .. i want scriptural truth as much as anyone ,but i feel if we dont seek him with a drive , we just wind up educated cemetaries, with no sign or wonders and no move of the spirit!
LETS KEEP THE DRIVE ALIVE!

Re: the drive.

Why would I want to try to move a God who knows my past, present, and future and has already said he will work all things for my good according to HIS purpose?

If we love God and have his spirit we are to be in constant communion with him and walk as he leads us.

To me it is a trust issue. If I truly trust in God then why would I beg and plead and go through all these antics to bring about his will in my life?

Do you trust that God will have his will or do you feel that you need make him move the way YOU want him to move?

Re: the drive.

ITS NOT ABOUT WHAT I WANT HIM TO DO --its about getting my flesh in subjection to his will ..if i just go around beliveing god will do everything for me because i love him and i do nothing on my part i am foolish to expect it. god knows all about us so why pray for anything? he knows our needs so why ask? because the word says to .ask and ye shall receive.!we as humans are so easy to err from god if we dont keep a spiritual mind. without doing these things i have posted i doubt you ever see a miracle that happenes because you prayed .faith without works is dead .

the things i have spoken about are for those who desire a closer walk and are not satisfied with where they arre now , if you are satisfied with your walk with god as far as what with how god is moveing thruough you i feel sorry for you as you will never get any closer than you are now. KEEP THE DRIVE ALIVE!

Re: the drive.

I have noticed among my acquaintances an ever deepening, stronger desire to know more of God. It's my prayer every day.

I have bolded what I agree with.

Other than that... Getting close to God for the sake of being close to him is one thing. This is good and honorable. Getting close to him to see miracles is another. We ought not draw close to God because of such selfish desires. Nor should we teach that these things are what we should be desiring to see. Miracles are not what is important. Doing our best to reveal God to the world is.

Again, wanting to be closer to God is good if done for the right reasons. I just think the reasons you're teaching aren't the right reasons to be wanting to get closer to God. Nor do I think that someone should be totally uncontent with where they are currently.

Also, it seems as if you are saying they should be uncontent and if they aren't something is wrong with them. I think it's both. We should desire closeness to God, but not feel like we still have such a long ways to go all the time.

EDIT: Oh yea I forgot about this while I was posting. Faith without works is dead. Those works aren't the miraculous things though. It's things like taking care of the poor and helping the people you encounter who are in need in your life. God can talk to people through aquintances, heal through a doctor, and teach through experience. Miracles aren't the works we are called to do. God can do those all on his own, he can talk through a donkey anytime he pleases. The works we are called to do are very natural and ordinary. Helping others, praying, being good parents, and a multitude of other natural things.

Re: the drive.

the flesh desires can only be conquerored by fasting and prayer. sinful words in todays times by many who are to lazy, spiritually to seek him . they wont deny thereself which was the JESUS MESSAGE , deny yourself take up your cross daily and follow me. we have way to many people calling themselves christians ,who simply go to church and read a bible here and there. yet the fail to deny therself anything for the sake of drawing closer to god . all through the bible god was getting them to lay down things to draw closer the idea still works .. in didnt put this here for argument sake as some on this site love to disagree with everything others say . hopefully it was a motivation to some maybe even a wake up call in the spirit to others . what i do works mr jfrog. the approval from god is on my ministry by sign and wonders ,gifts ,and annointing working in my life to help others and i enjoy it i been all over the usa,and some in canada preaching ,praying for sick and delivering the powers of hell off peoples lives ..
so i need no approval from people on what i do and if it works .. just simply hope to motivate others .. if your not one that it does ,then we simply are headed 2 different directions in the spirit and i wish you all the blesssings of the lord and hope all is good between you and god.!

The folks that lose the drive to seek more of him will end up being in the luke warm church.

I have a motto. "Hallelujah in all"

It's about living your life in such a way that everything in it is a praise to God. It includes prayer and fasting but these aren't all. It includes being close to God and wanting to be pleasing to him. It includes trying to be pleasing to God in all facets of your life, for life is more than prayer and fasting. Life is living, loving, helping others, marrying, reading books, watching football games, talking to friends, laughing, and so much more and every single one these things can be done in such a way that it is a praise to God. We ought to do all these things and prayer and fasting also. It's not an either or approach. It an all inclusive approach.

"Hallelujah in all"

Re: the drive.

Good to see you posting, PastorRick. Pentecostal folks all over the world are praying for revival. They ( or, I should say WE) want to see an outpouring of the Holy Ghost as on the Day of Pentecost. "And when the day of Pentecost was fully come..." We want to see that day fully come... when God's Spirit moves as in days of yesteryear.

However, to get to Acts 2:4, we need to read through Acts 1:14 first. To get to Joel 2:28, we need to experience Joel 2:15 first. The key to revival isn't found in Acts 2:4 or Joel 2:28. Its found in those two obscure verses... Acts 1:14 and Joel 2:15. And, it isn't about trying to move God to do what I want... its trying to move me to do what God wants. Its not about praying and fasting to try to manipulate God in some way, but its about me doing my reasonable service...which is to "present my body a living sacrifice". Sacrifice. In this day of plenty... the word "sacrifice" seems to be so... so outdated. Sacrifice is what one did when they didn't have anything. No thats not sacrifice. Sacrifice is having something and giving it for the Lord. Sacrifice is, as you said, denying self.

When Jesus spoke of denying self, and taking up the cross, He was giving a visual of what He was saying. The people who heard Him had seen convicted criminals carrying their crosses through the streets of Jerusalem. They knew exactly what that meant. A man carrying a cross was a condemned man. Someone was going to die. Jesus was saying "If you follow me, you must die". Die to self. My will no longer matters. Its His will. What I want is dead. His desire for me is all that lives.

Azusa Street is remembered as one site of the out pouring of the Holy Ghost in the 20th Century. Different images come to mind as we try to visualize just what it was like in the old mission. Shouting, singing, tongues, healings... etc. When I visualize Azusa Street, I see one thing... an old black man by the name of Seymour (spelling) sitting in a corner with his head in an orange crate crying, "Lord. break me". Thats the key to revival. That IS revival. And, until we, as individuals, as a church, as a group or as an organization, are really willing to be broken, we will never be healed.
