Anyone ever heard of the Apostolic Church of Jesus Christ?
I visited a church tonight. They were having a gospel singing so my husband and I decided to visit. They say they're apostolic. Know anything about them?

I doubt it is any relation but I attended a "Church of Jesus Christ" and they are apostolic. In fact they were of the independent fellowship.

My cousin is a pastor in that org.

Well, I do know this church is associated with an organization. The Pastor of the church said something about an upcoming convention held at headquarter international office. But that's all I know. I don't know where the headquarter is or anything. The area in which I live, apostolic churches are rare. We drive almost fourty miles to church, one way. This church would be a little closer for us. I would like to know how long the organization has been around.

Do they have anything distinct from other Oneness groups doctrine wise?

There is an organization by that name at
http://www.acjcii.com/index.html

You could go to the site and see if the church or pastor you know of is listed there or not.

We visited the church this morning. I found out that they are associated with the COJC org. of Cleveland TN. I tried a google search but didn't really find anything about it either. The church may be ok, But I'd like to know a little more before we make a decision.

I was raised in a church called the Apostolic Church of Jesus. I doubt it is the same thing. This one was primarily based in Colorado and Northern New Mexico, and its heyday is looooong gone, unfortunately.

It was an offshoot of the Apostolic Assemblies church "or the California brethern" as my grandma used to call them. They brought this Jesus name message that trumped the Catholic church and it took several wonderful men of God, including my grampa by storm.

Yes, I believe the correct initials are ACJCII.

It is a small, but growing, organization that is a loose fellowship of ministers.

If it is the org I remember. My best friends dad pastored for them for years and he had a very very strict church in the north Texas area and I saw one of the names on that list I recognized and his church is also very strict in standards. And a good church at that. Small but very good church when I visited there last.

There are several groups who call themselves COJC.
The COJC was organized by Bishop Mark Lawson in 1927.
They've gone through many splits and divisions since then and many use COJC in the name of their organization.

There is one headquartered in Cleveland, TN.
Actually they are called The Churches of Jesus Christ International
but their licenses, credentials and annual fellowship cards just say Church of Jesus Christ.
The current presiding bishop is Boyd Lawson who is the son of the late Bishop Mark Lawson.
Their web site is
http://www.angelfire.com/tn3/cojci/
Some times it takes a while for the site to load, so be patient.

NOT the same group. These folks have been around a long time a small area group in the Midwest. They did not teach the name over the door nor baptize in the name of Jesus Christ as the only way. Many of them baptize in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ or Jesus Name.

I noticed A Bishop Frank Weber as a new member here.
If this the same bishop I know of, He is a Bishop of a group called The Full Gospel Church Of Jesus Christ or something like that based in Alabama.

One thing I have noticed with the ACJCII is that they really have no stand against divorce in the ministry.

I suppose that comes with the territory when men are shooting for a loose fellowship that really has no authority over the ministers that are a part of it.

Elder,
I'm not real sure which group was referenced by the author of this thread, but she said
"We visited the church this morning. I found out that they are associated with the COJC org. of Cleveland TN. I tried a google search but didn't really find anything about it either. The church may be ok, But I'd like to know a little more before we make a decision."
so I assumed it was the Boyd Lawson group in Cleveland, TN. They are not insistent on the name over the door like some CoJC folks are. If you go to their site, I think the Lawson group in Cleveland, TN are pretty open about the name over the door and the words used in baptism.

I met a two of the acjcii preachers, A guy and his wife. They tried to get me to join that bunch. My words were "I would rather join the KKK" They looked at me with shock. I guess it is hard to imagine me in a white sheet. I never in my life met two people who were stranger than those two.
