I was 12.
In three months we had over 100 new people recieve the Holy Ghost for the first time. Our church grew from 75 to over 200 and never looked back.
We had been on a 7 day water only fast and a 24 hour prayer chain at the church just prior to revival breaking out.

Around 82 we had revival with Keith Clark and had 76 get the Holy Ghost.
In the 60's Joe Duke preached a tent revival and had 99 get the Holy Ghost. many of those people are still there.

The evangelist was none other than Steve Munsey.
Many of those who attended are still friends...

Ok, Pastor Poster..do you mean a "revival" meeting or set of meetings? Or, a spread like wildfire even though there's no evangalist, preacher, teacher, no one but no one except some who seek God and all Holy Ghost fire breaks out in a group of people sort of revival?
I've never been a part of any of the meeting sort of things, to be honest going to a church where God's Spirit moves is still taking some getting used to.... But I am familar with the Spirit of God, or was at one time, and that I can tell stories about if anyone wanted to hear. I can't tell you how many filled with the Holy Ghost though, or even much beyond the first few even though I know the ripples continued much further than I ever saw. I can tell you how to put a nice quick end to something like this too...as I saw it happen.

Steve Munsey was one of my favorite preachers when I was a teenager. he had a way with kids, was able to really get through to them. He did quite a few PK (preachers kids) retreats in CA in the early 80's.

1970 Joe Duke preached a 2 month revival for BW Adams in Pensacola Florida.
I was one of about 80 who were filled with the spirit.
My first year there i brought about 12 other sailors to church from the base.
God saved them, then most were quickly run off by some pretty wierd teaching on things they called standards. :christmasjig

In Kilgore, Texas, the new church building had been struck by lightning and burned to the ground, and the church was worshipping in the high school auditorium. Pastor A. W. Buie began a series of special services while the new church was under construction. In that auditorium, a mighty move of the Holy Ghost began and did not ebb. Over a 3-month period, over 50 individuals received the baptism of the Holy Ghost with many, many more being baptized in the Name of Jesus. After the 2nd church building was completed, the services were continued there. An additional 60 people were filled with His Spirit and the First United Pentecostal Church of Kilgore, Texas continued to grow. On the next Easter Sunday over 466 people were in attendance. At that time and for several years after, this church was the largest Oneness Pentecostal church in the State of Texas, and in the top five nationwide. A. W. Buie was a tremendous revival preacher, preaching special services throughout the country. He also opened Ireland to the Apostolic Truth in the late 1950's with many coming to the knowledge of Jesus Christ. He lead another tremendous revival in South Bend, Indiana at Calvary Tabernacle where he pastored by several years.
He is still praying fervently for God's perfect will for the church and has given over 68 years of his life to pastoral ministry. What a wonderful testimony! Many, many ministers started their walk with Jesus under his revival leadership. In my childhood, I was almost constantly in revival meetings whether regular or specially called. Praise Him!

To shorten this considerably...I was quite the teenager. The important points to this story are, I was naive, I believed what I was told (the Bible is true, revival starts in *you*) and I believed what I read in the Bible. Oh and I was 15 when this all got started, maybe 14?
I heard that bit about revival begning in you at...it must have been a youth camp of some sort. And took it at face value. I went home and started praying for it. Since I didn't know any better (tic) I fully expected it as well. I started reading the Bible a little differently too as time went on. I caught ahold of the book of Acts and decided if it was then, it is now.
I don't know how to tell the story without saying I a lot, it wasn't me though. It was overwhelmingly GOD, and only GOD.
A few months after I started praying this way, I was changed quite considerably from who I'd been before. And I wasn't the only one to notice. I had started going to home meetings, some prayer, some singing, some homechurch type meetings. I hadn't known about any of them before all of this, but as time went on I somehow found out about quite a few. I must have been 16 at this time, as I often went by myself (aka..w/o my mom and siblings, altho she did start coming after awhile). Friends started asking to come with me. Things kind of broke wide open from there, that's all I can say. I hung out with a rough group of kids, from many towns. Three of the kids who started going to meetings with me had been attending my church sporadically for a few years (well..one was the worship leader's daughter..I guess she was more than sporadic..lol).
As they got saved, I just started bringing them to church with me. The youth group swelled from 6 to over 30 in attendance within a month or two.
The adults at the prayer meetings (none went to the church I did) taught us how to pray. They assured us God is exactly who the Bible says He is, and He'll do exactly what the Bible says He'll do. Being naive kids...we believed it. (Oh yeah..if you can't tell...I might have some issues surrounding this...this isn't exactly easy for me to type out even though it's the second time I have since coming back to God)
We laid hands on each other. We prayed with and for each other. We'd often join hands in a circle and pray, just to pray together. We saw some pretty amazing things and while the youth group capped out at around 30, the ripples kept going. The group that came to church with me, was from up to 1 hour from where I lived (my church was 30 min...this was RURAL folks..half an hour is like a day's trip there....lol)
I was going to or leading prayer, worship, or Bible study meetings every single night of the week, or going to my own church services. I went to every single special event within a 4 or 5 hour drive I could get to, and took anyone along who wanted to go. Some of the kids I'd been teaching, started teaching where they were. I was helping them write their own Bible studies and teach them, praying with them, etc. I'd often drive 30 to 45 min away at 8 or 9 pm just cuz someone called me and said they were having a rough time and after praying on the phone I knew it wasn't going to be better. We drank a lot of soda and coffee, but the people calling me didn't go out and get drunk those nights either. Remember, it was a rough group of kids. We saw quite a few completely set free from drugs, alcohol, tobacco, more. Others struggled some, but we were there for each other through thick and thin. (one aside...we never did beat anyone up if they slipped up. "so what? throw 'em out again and start over..it's not yesterday that matters, it's from now on that does").
I taught repent, be baptized, and be filled with the Holy Ghost, having never been taught that. It's just what I saw at 16. Here's where I say I don't get the debate over it. lol It's all important and what step you're actually "saved" at who cares. I never taught "get saved so you can go to heaven!" I taught "God loves you and He wants a relationship with you". Everything from the first time you fall on your face before God is part of that relationship and it's all an ongoing process.
Anyhow, this all went on for...I don't know. Maybe a year or two. I was 16 and in school and doing all this and church and missions trips and....time kind of flew by for me. lol Unfortunately, they came to a crashing halt (at least within the initial circle, I'm sure the ripples are still going..actually I know of a few ministers born out of that whole experience now that I think about it) after a few timely words from someone. But that, is a really long story that's not fully written yet.

That's amazing. What happened to stop it?
One Sunday night we were talking after church and a few were struggling. So we joined hands and prayed. As was pretty typical, those who needed the most, got the most. The youth pastor of the church walked back into the sanctuary while we were praying and didn't like what she saw.
The next service, the pastor talked to me. Told me we couldn't be doing *that* anymore. I told him it's what happens when we pray, we can't just pick and choose what God does. (there were some on the floor, I think it may have been the mixed gender thing that bothered her? no one ever explained really) He then told me that we wouldn't be praying on church property anymore then. He couldn't stop us from praying off, but he hoped we'd quit what we were doing because it wasn't of God. (these words haunt me to this day...I really struggle with accepting a move of God in my life because of them)
I hate thinking these words..typing them is very difficult. I do not want to speak badly of this man, I don't fully understand his reason for what he said. I'm sure he felt his reason was valid.
I tried to keep things together, find everyone who wanted to leave (and was allowed to by their parents..lol) a church to attend and keep the Bible studies and prayer meetings going. But those words had already done their damage. I have never gotten my feet under myself again. I wandered from there on, essentially I left that church at that time. I still had to go because I was living at home, but I didn't participate anymore and I went to other churches instead whenever my mom would allow. I moved out of her house less than a year later and tried to find a church home in that city. I did eventually find a church where I was deeply involved in the ministry again (oh somewhere during this wandering I met a UPC pastor and got baptized in Jesus' name..my testimony gives *me* goosebumps..heh). I didn't stay there that long, I found out some things after I got involved in the ministry aspect that didn't work for me (mishandling finances, some huge control issues).
About 5, 6 years after those words were spoken, I left the church all together. That was 8 years ago and I'm just now finding my way back. As I said, the story isn't written yet. I know my experiences in the past are both helpful, and not so helpful, as I try to get on my feet again.

Voted in as pastor of a church in 1990 that was averaging about 130 on Sun. mornings. Within a year and a half the church was averaging 250 in a community of about 2000. Most of that growth took place within the first year.
I'd say that was the biggest revival I was ever part of personally.
And no, conditions weren't perfect as many people think they should be. And no, it wasn't about us. And no, it wasn't because we were praying and fasting around the clock. ;) :) It was about God's will and timing and the right man in the right place at the right time.

I'd have to say the one that stands out for me is the one I received the Holy Ghost in! It was June of 1988 in Newport News, VA at JC's church. We were having revival services and we had a joint service with a baptist church. It was during that service that I receieved the baptism of the Holy Ghost. It also seemed to be a jump start for growth in our church. I attended the church for 3 years and the congregation grew from somewhere around 110 to over 200 by the time we left.

It started in the Baton Rouge church around 1973 a Br. Love from California preached the revival. A group of young couples prayed through during that time. They caught fire and began spreading the gospel throughout the city. I guess there were probably 150-200 people that prayed through during that year. The evangelist did not stay that long, but the services were electric and people prayed through either in homes or in churches. I can think of 6 ministers that came out of that group.

I have two...
2. At Apostolic Christian School, Knoxville TN, I attended from age 4 until I graduated. Mondays was devotions and Friday was Chapel/Church. One Monday our school pastor preached and the HG hit that place. We baptized 23 kids that day and nearly 20 received the HGB that same day. Over the week revival we baptized nearly 50 kids from the school ages 8-18.
Drum roll...........
1. 1988, Evangelist Denny Livingston, in Knoxville,Tn. it was his first major revival, he was 19 and recently married. It started as a New Years eve service. I went 4 weeks. My family had moved to that side of town and had been attending several months. Neither of my parents had the HGB at that time. During the revival my mother got laid off and there had been so many baptisims that people were having to be baptized in robes that had not dried properly and they stunk.
My father and mother volunteered to wash them over Sunday night, Monday and Tuesday. They believed that they would be needed still, so they washed. They still had not received the HGB. On the Wednesday night they returned the robes to the baptismal rooms that night they received the HGB at the altar call and were baptized in the very same robes they had just been cleaning. God sure changed my families life that night! In that revival there were over 100 people that received the HGB during that revival. God is soo great.
