View Full Version : My dad...

Some of you know that I'm not exactly close to my dad or his side of the family at all... however a few minutes ago I got a call from my sister.

She said that my Aunt, my dad's sister, called her to tell her he's in a hospital in Columbus, OH, on a breathing machine, unconscious.

His lungs are riddled with blood clots. In addition, they want us, his children, to give our decision whether to resucitate or not.

I won't tell you what my decision was because I really don't want this thread to become a debate over it.

I'm simply asking you to pray that God's will be done in my dad's life.

Ron please know I am praying! We had this same thing pretty much happen with my mother in June. Even though her passing was not a huge surprise its never easy and those types decisions dont make it any easier. Know that your AFF family is here for you and praying as we speak!

Bro. Ronzo,

There is no greater request than what you asked for! God Will. We

cannot improve on His Will!!

Lord God,

We humbly ask that You would have Your Will concerning Bro.

Ronzo's dear Dad. Lord, You know what is best for him and You

know how to accomplish it! I pray for peace and comfort in this

family. We thank You for what YOU will for this man, in Jesus Name!

Ron,

I am sorry to hear about your fathers condition. I will praying for him and will continue praying for you as I have been for some time now.

Have you considered legally changing your name to Job?

Adequate words never seem to come at a time like this, but God knows just what it is that you need and how to do it. May God grant you comfort and rest at a time when life is so emotional and tragic.

Ron, I just wanted to comment on that statement above.

Whatever decision you made is the right one. There is no debate to be had (although I know some might make one out of it).

I deal with these decisions often. Even if I would have made a different decision, there is no wrong decision in these matters, just a difference of opinion, so to speak. It's akin to asking people what they think about eating spaghetti. Some think it's delicious and some think it's gross, but both groups are correct.....if that makes sense.

Anyway, regardless of your decision, I'd say you made the right one. I hope all goes well and that amends are able to be made. I'm praying for you.

I talked to the doctor today.

He said dad is doing a little better. He's needing less O2 than yesterday or the day before, so to them, that's a good sign of recovery.

He said dad's still got a long way to go, but it looks promising.

He's sedated still though, due to the tube in his lungs.

My friend Mike moved up to the Columbus area a few months ago to take a Youth Pastor's position. I called him today to see if he'd be ok with swinging by to check in on my dad and his mom and sister. He just called me a little while ago to say he went but they had the room closed because my aunt was sleeping. He said he'd swing by on his lunch hour tomorrow.

I'm blessed to have good friends.

Please continue to pray as you think about it.

Thank You. Lord God,

No telling what You will do when we are willing to totally submit to Your

will, trusting You and knowing that Your will cannot be improved upon.

Thank You, dear God for what You will continue to see fit to do, in Jesus

Name!

Looks like my dad is beginning to improve more and they're confident that he'll be waking soon, however, they're not sure what level of brain damage he'll be suffering from when he does finally wake up.

We'll see how things go...

An update from my aunt...

"I know it sounds unbelievable that he was very near death and then visiting a little over a week later, but believe me I'm not exaggerating. When i first saw him awake at lung center the first thing I said to him was "Let me tell you something, every day you wake up you should thank God for every breath he gives you." He said "yeah I know".

He doesn't remember anything though about heart center. but they told me the meds. they had him on were not only for pain but also for memory. happy new year. "
