I am due June 15th. They want to schedule the C-Section around June 5th. I am having ALL DAY sickness!!!! I am 13 weeks, so HOPEFULLY the sickness will slow down or just go away! We will find out the sex in Jan. (we hope). Maybe Feb. My husband is going snow skiing about the time I should have my Jan appt. SOOOOO, I may have to wait until Feb to see what we are having cause I want him there! Should I ask and see if they will let my 4 year old go in the room with us when we find out the sex??????

I think that would be way cool! I have heard of other people with little ones doing that so that they feel a part of the whole thing from the very beginning... the first time you see him/her Logan will also see the baby and that will make him feel good eventually if even you dont see an immediate reaction.
In other words I say yes.

She has not really had morning sickness but she just remains nauseus (sp?) all of the time.

I believe the actual due date is July 31 so either way she will have to go through the hot summer and we are in Texas!!
So I have been thinking about installing a new a/c to keep her cool then, maybe the Beefkeeper 3000. :jolly

Our son was with us every step of the way, and enjoying the "new" role he was about to embark upon. (Big Brother)
I was a "bit" older, (40) and our son helped us pray, and believe, that everything was going to be ok.
What fun it was to pick out names, clothes, room decorations, etc, and having the "Big" Brother" there to help.

my son has prayed for the baby since day 1....he just didnt want it to live at our house.....lol he is better now and is getting okay with it all. we have told him he was going to have to help us pick out all the COOL toys. he is excited about that. if we have a boy, we are set on the clothes. my husband wants to go ahead and get the room decotated as soon as we find out what it is. he is ready to get all the things we kept out of the attic. i am like......we have PLENTY of time...lol

I was here on the thread to see how many babies were coming into this world when I noticed this post. You could have your physician's office call your local friendly neighborhood Walgreens store, which will in turn forward that information to our compounding pharmacists that are currently located in 175 cities throughout the nation (look for every city where there is a store to offer this service by mid 2008). Please keep in mind that our two specialty pharmacy locations could have any compounded drug shipped to you within 24 hours during this time of expansion of our services.
Walgreens with the purchase of Option Care Inc has started a revolution of one stop shopping for any and all of your pharmaceutical, DME, RT, nursing, occupational and physical therapy and dietary needs. If you experience issues with your diet during pregnancy, give Walgreens a call, so when you pick up your Phenergan gel, a dietitian would be available to address those concerns with you.
BTW, congrats to all the soon to be parents of beautiful babies!
I just stopped typing and realized I was wearing my sales cap this afternoon, sorry. I just find myself becoming increasingly excited about what Walgreens would be able to give to the public in order to make their hectic lives just a little less hectic. Shucks...there I go again!!!

The rule of 'no visitors under 12' applies to non-immediate family members of the patient.
I've worked in a hospital and you wouldn't believe the people who will come visit their elderly neighbor and bring their 5 kids with them to scream and run up and down the halls!!!

I am now in my second trimester (14 weeks yesterday)! This week's big developments: The baby can now squint, frown, grimace, pee, and possibly suck his/her thumb. Thanks to brain impulses, his/her facial muscles are getting a workout as his/her tiny features form one expression after another. The kidneys are producing urine, which the baby releases into the amniotic fluid around him/her — a process he/she will keep up until birth. He/she can grasp too. The baby's stretching out and is about the size of a lemon.

This is why drinking a lot of water (at least 1/2 a gallon to 1 gallon) a day is necessary to keep the baby's water clean. One of the reasons anyway.

You'll feel your best during the middle trimester, and perhaps as much as the first half of the third. During the first trimester I bring my wife a ziplock bag with some club crackers and a small 12-oz bottle of pepsi to put beside the bed before I go to work. Later in the first trimester, she'll feel nauseous at any random time during the day. She combats this with frequent protein-laden snacks.
Near the end, you'll begin to worry that it's never going to end. Although "no man knows the hour," a woman certainly does. You will be delivered, and God willing you'll get a cute baby out of the deal.
We will find out what sex it is soon. And even though our resident renegade chimney sweep (I'm watching you brother Steve :santathumb ) has wished twins upon us, only one strong, healthy heartbeat has been detected.
My wife is a rare treasure among women. Her love for children, her fierce loyalty to our family, and sincerity about understanding the mind of God regarding families is a source of great comfort and pride to me.
Merry Christmas to you all.

We've enjoyed a hand-me-down network that involves our children's first cousins.
But you have hit upon some bedrock scientific fact: boys wear out pants.
Some of the baby and toddler stuff has made it through all four boys, but what very little beyond 4T lasts through the second, doesn't make it past the third.
i had a c-section with my first and will be having one with this one too. it is already scheduled....lol my section was fine. i was up and about within 4 days. the dr said the sooner you get up and walk, the better. i took him at his word. people say i was up too soon, but i never had any problems. i know people that are down for 3 weeks....to me that is a bit much...i think they were milking it...lol :toofunny:toofunny:toofunny
I think it depends on your age. I had my first c-section in my 20's and I bounced right back, was up moving around the first day. My second and third were in my 30's and were much more difficult. My third being the worst. We are expecting # 8 in July and I will be trying to have a v-back in the hospital. I was excited to find out that we are in an area where there are doctors that will let you do v-backs.
I'm sorry. I just saw that I didnt answer this. No, actually we are back in the States now for quite awhile anyway.

My first baby was a c-section, my second a v-back in the hospital, the next three v-back's at home, my sixth and seventh I tried to have at home, but ended up going the the hospital and had c-sections. Neither one of them were emergencies we just knew it wasn't going to happen at home. I am very high risk, and will be trying to have another v-back in the hospital with #8 in July. I don't know your situation, but unless you find a doctor that does v-backs most won't let you have one. This doesn't always mean you can't have one. A lot of doctors don't do them, because of malpractice insurance that doesn't allow it.

Why would you have this? (what reason would you be opened for a C-Section and then deliver vaginally I mean) I've never heard of it before.

no no no no.... another child... not same baby...
Have one baby c section then go and decide to have the next or rest natural... I had a c section and my last were both natural and wouldnt trade for the world!
Why would you have this? (what reason would you be opened for a C-Section and then deliver vaginally I mean) I've never heard of it before.
If you have an emergency c-section then then you can't have a vback. If you have a transverse cut then it is safe to do a vback. A vaginal birth is natural and what you body is made to do. A c-section is a wonderful thing if a normal birth is not available, but it is very hard on your body. They remove your insides and put them back and tack up your bladder and other things. Over time this takes quite a toll on your body. I don't believe c-sections should be done unless absolutely necessary. A lot of doctors don't want to wait for a baby to be born so they have the women induced with pitossin which is harmful and can cause rupture. When the women don't go into labor they then decide they need c-sections. Doctors make more money on c-sections then they do a normal delivery. Many c-sections are pushed that are unnecessary. My sixth child had one foot stuck in my pelvis and one foot stuck in my rib cage there is no way she would have come out naturally. Thank God for c-sections. I just think they need to be done for the right reasons.
One doctor wanted to watch a football game and got impatient. He used forceps to get the baby out. The forceps tore the baby's ear and cut it's face, all because the doctor is impatient. Most women do not understand the birthing process and believe whatever the doctors tell them. I did with my first one and ended up with a c-section and never wanting another child. I had a friend educate me on the whole birthing experience and now have 7 with another one on the way. I actually love to go through labor and look forward to it. It is natural, normal and the way God made it. I have had really good doctors too, but I love having a home birth with a midwife. I won't be able to have any more home births but I am excited about doing a vback in the hospital.

I do want to correct one thing here so that some thinking this isnt possible can be corrected... it is possible to have a vback after an emergency c section..And anyone who wants to have a natural birth... check into it.. its fine and normally very healthy!!! :). I had 2 emergency c secs... one a live birth and one not... and then had 2 vbacks following... not a problem in the world actually the drs preferred to do them that way... guess it all depends on where you are and how good the drs are.

Yes they are... however if you find the right hospitals now they are starting to go against the grain on that... and also a lot of insurance companies are joining in... in our BCBS yearly thing we get they actually have a short story about it last yr and this yr about how much more profitable it is...
I had one dr who was so against a vback... however my husband left me as I was 3 months till time to have my 2nd child and so I had to go on medicaid... I had to change drs too.. I ended up with one of the best drs in Dallas thru it tho which is odd but somehow it happened and he was totally a firm believer in vbac,,,, and he delivered my last 2 and all my friends who had c sections went to him too for their 2nd so they could experience natural birth...
Its something I would do over again a million times... I ended up doing it witout drugs at all... I had them start epidurals with both of the girls but... the first one waited too long and they had used up all the meds allowed in a certain time frame so I was out of luck.. .and the last one Idecided for a epi... too late.. by the time they started it she had crowned and it blocked the flow of the epi... I kept telling them... hey I feel this they kept giving more meds finally figured out what was wrong and said well enjoy cuz you aint getting nothing but a huge baby girl... 3 min later there she was! LOL
Thats the problem with having pretty fast births... she was 25 min labor!

God was with me! I had a v-bac after 3 c-sections! Good doctors will prefer you to have a vbac. One of my doc's wanted me to have a vbac but test showed that I could not due to a paper thin uterus. But then after 3 c-sec's I delivered a very large healthy baby boy!
I encourage ladies to find doctors who want you to have a natural birth. They want what is best for you and if they see any potential problems, they won't put you at risk. They will know if a c-section is best for you... but they won't push you to have one just because..........jmo

no no no no.... another child... not same baby...
Have one baby c section then go and decide to have the next or rest natural... I had a c section and my last were both natural and wouldnt trade for the world!
OHHHHHHHHHh That makes much more sense!!! Thank you!

Down in the States, do they let you choose to have your baby however you want? Vaginally or C-Section? Up here, for the most part, they expect you to only have a C-section if it's medically necessary.
I have thankfully never required a C-section!

It depends on the dr... but normally yes if you dont have complications most expect it to be a natural birth..

My only birth child was a c section...I almost died trying to have it naturally. However a natural birth is the thing to do if you can...You would never dream what the hospital was like 34 years years ago in the interior where we lived...lol...Glad I was so young and did not know what I know now...
It depends on the dr... but normally yes if you dont have complications most expect it to be a natural birth..
Where I come from they don't like you to have natural births after c-sections. They really pushed more c-sections. When we moved here I was surprised at the options.

on my second visit my dr asked me to plan the c-section (he gave me a few dates to pick from). i thought it was way too soon for that. when i went to the next visit, he had already scheduled it for me...lol i like it planned. that way, everyone can be there. my in-laws live 1 1/2 hours away, so it works out well for them.

I had a strange experience last week. I was driving on the freeway when I lost my sight completely in my right eye and was seeing blue spots in my left. I quickly got on back roads and was just going to pull over. Then I decided I better just head for the emergency room. After 25 minutes my sight started to come back. By the time that got me into the exam room 30 minutes later my sight went again this time for almost 2 hours. Then my sight started to come back slowly. I have my peripheral vision, but my center vision is gone, with the exception of one spot in the middle. They don't expect me to get all of my sight back.
I had an eye stroke due to an ocular migraine. This is a very rare occurrence and the eye doctor I saw hadn't saw it in his 23 years of practice. The odds of this happening again are like lighting striking twice in the same place.
Ocular migraines are common for pregnant women due to the hormonal changes.

Yikes, Kae!
Be careful out there.
My wife has borderline low sugar, and so must be always eating protein or else she experiences lightheadedness, and, in extreme cases, blurred vision.
But nothing like this, Kae.
Yikes.
We shall pray.

I mean yea it does and doesnt... Hard to describe. It is very neat and different to look at... and yes it does pretty much look like a black and white pic of the baby.

Three Weeks From Today!!!!!!!!!!
OP_Carl
05-16-2008, 02:59 PM
We have just two weeks more to go. My wife is enduring swelling of her hands and feet. Swelling in her wrists is giving pressure on a nerve in the carpal tunnels, giving her the same sort of pain as those that suffer from carpal tunnel syndrome. Otherwise she and the baby have both been fine.
Today, though, she was checked by the doctor and her blood pressure is up slightly. The swelling is taking a sinister turn as well. I think she is a hair's breadth from being placed on strict bed rest.
Her mother often watches the other children, and we have her sister coming over during the days to help now.
I've got killer stress from work this month, and now I'm as nervous as a long-tailed cat in a room full of rocking chairs. I worry constantly about her health and strength. However, I am the one that needs to keep the stiff upper lip and be strong for her. On top of everything else, we are nowhere near to figuring out a name.
Now comes the final two weeks, a time when every ring of my cell phone gives me an instant injection of adrenaline. I hope I have enough to make it.
What baby # is this for you all? Is is just trace amounts of protein or a lot? Is her blood pressure high. I had toxemia with my first and they didn't catch it until I was in labor. I am praying for you all.

What baby # is this for you all? #6 Is is just trace amounts of protein or a lot? trace amount Is her blood pressure high. Just slightly. But it has had an increasing upward trend lately. Today the bottom number was over 90. I had toxemia with my first and they didn't catch it until I was in labor. We are concerned about pre-eclampsia. She is less susceptible to it after having 5 babies, but if it sets in it will do so extra quickly, since she has had 5 babies. I am praying for you all. Thank you sister Kae. She just burned her right hand tonight. Scalding water from a bowl sloshed on her when she was pulling it from the microwave. We're not sure how bad it will be, because she still has her hand in a bucket of cold water.

i am having a tubal and this is #2 for us :-)
I had toxemia with my first and ended up with a c-section after 16 hours of labor. I didn't have an emergency c-section.
I had 4 natural births (3 at home after that). Then I ended up with 2 more c-sections, neither one being emergency. This one I am going to try having natural in the hospital. Not very many doctors would even attempt to do a v-bac. As long as everything continues to go well there shouldn't be any problems. According to my last doctor visit the doctor that will deliver me can get a baby out within 30-60 seconds in case of emergency. The doctor I saw said it takes her 21/2 minutes. I am going to a hospital where they are able to handle these kind of situations. It is a teaching hospital and where they bring all the trauma patients. The doctor only delivers babies with different or interesting situations now. He is the head teaching doctor at this hospital.
Before we were married my husband was prophesied that he would have a quiver full. It wasn't till after we were married that he found out what that meant. We shall see.
We are on #8.
I pray you wife's hand is okay. I pour a boiling pot of water on my hand just after I lost vision in my eye. I immediately put in in cold water and didn't want to pull it out. That was some pain. I did though because I knew in the bedroom I had a balm that would stop any blistering. So I endured the pain and forced myself to go and get it. It took about 20 minutes and then the pain subsided. I was able to take a shower a couple of hours later and the heat didn't bother my hand. I had to put more on when I got out, and then about 5 hours later it started to throb and I put more on. That was it no more pain and no blistering. I was very thankful.
I will be praying she will be alright last thing she needs right now is a wounded hand.

Her hand seems to be okay. She kept it in ice water for nearly 3 hours after the incident, and took a bunch of vitamin C.
The bottom number of her blood pressure keeps creeping up, though. :(

The doctor has ordered us in to the hospital for 24 hours of observation, due to climbing blood pressure. Pre-eclampsia is suspected.
OP_Carl

We're spending the night at the hospital. As soon as I'm done tucking the others into bed, I will go back. Several of the early test results indicate a slight or borderline case of pre-eclampsia. We won't have the key result until Wednesday morning. The doctor is saying either strict bedrest until things happen naturallly, or inducement. The silver lining is she said she will probably not order magnesium sulfate during the inducement, since it is such a mild case.
So . . . . . . a bit of relief, but still a good deal of concern, and a great deal of uncertainty.

This is a big plus. My labor was going really good and they all thought I would have the baby quickly. Then my blood pressure went up to 216/194 and they gave me the magnesium which all but stopped my labor. Also I wasn't normal and was hallucinating until they took me off of it 24 hours after the c-section. Drinking fluids is so important right now. Although she is probably already going to the bathroom every time she turns around and that would make it worse. Inducing has it's ups and downs. If it isn't time for the baby to come inducing won't help and more than likely she will end up with a c-section. The other side of things is with pre-eclamsia it usually causes one to go into labor sooner.
