As a boy working in my Grandparents store I used to wait on a man who came in to buy trout fishing supplies. Sometimes he would bring in his three youngest children, Harry, Nathaniel, and Mary Francis. Mary Francis became famous as the one who "shot JR" on Dallas and her father was Bing Crosby who sang the best selling Christmas song of all time, "White Christmas".
The song still brings back memories of my Grandparents, the store, and the mountains of Northern California at Christmas time.

He's good...I like him alot.

One of my favorite Christmas songs is also quite sad...Merry Christmas, Darling, sung by Karen Carpenter...what a voice!!

It came on the car radio the other day when I was alone and I cried like a baby thinking about my dad...the bridge and last chorus are posted below...

The lights on my tree
I wish you could see
I wish it every day
Logs on the fire
Fill me with desire
To see you and to say

That I wish you Merry Christmas
Happy New Year, too
I've just one wish
On this Christmas Eve
I wish I were with you

*sigh*

Beautiful Star of Bethlehem is my favorite too. Probably because my great big family of 100plus has been singing it on Christmas Eve for the past 65 years. Lots of good memories. We sing other songs including Santa Claus is coming to town, but we don't open presents til we sing "Beautiful Star"!

Did you know that your Baby Boy is heaven's perfect Lamb?
And the sleeping Child you're holding is the Great I Am.

IMO, which is right, lol CHICAGO Christmas CD is the best out there... Their renditions of the old favorites are incredible... It has been my family's fav for years...

They have a bang up rendition of my favorite Christmas song, "O Come All Ye Faithful." If you have never listened to all of the verses on that one you need too... They are powerful..

If you are a country music lover, Lee Greenwood's, Christmas to Christmas project is awesome as well... It has been out a long time, but he has some great songs on there...

Not to make anyone jealous, but I spent about 30 minutes visting with Geron Davis Sunday afternoon and he gave me their new Christmas CD which is intended for realease in 2008. There is a great new song on the project that is titled (not a typo) "A Way In A Manger." Could be a new classic. It was born out of a creative writing class Geron was teaching a talented young 16 year old. He told the kid to take something ordinary or common and make it extraordinarily simple... like taking a four word song title and making it five... thus A Way In A Manger. He is the way the truth and the life!

Obviously someone else on here has heard the cd because they reference Geron's rendition of Silent Night... also on the project. :d

My favorite Christmas song ever is "The Christmas Song", sung by Nat King Cole. I also love "Oh Holy Night" sung by Celine Dion.

Russ Taff did a Christmas album years ago, it is still one of my favorite Christmas Albums. Another older album is the one that was done in the 90's by various Christian artists, "The New Young Messiah", it is still one of my favorites.

I also love Johnny Mathis singing just about any Christmas song. I guess when it comes to Christmas I am pretty old-fashioned! That is disconcerting! I had never thought about it before!

TSO ROCKS!!! I believe they are supposed to be in my area the day after Christmas, but alas, no tickets for me : - (

My sister in law LOVES "I Wanna Hippopotamus for Christmas". . .and she's 37! She's introduced it to my 6 year old and so he's been going around the house singing it.

I pretty much like all Christmas music, but Mary Did You Know is prob one of my faves. I also like Whitney Houston's rendition of Do You Hear What I Hear? And Christina Aguilera tears it up on Oh Holy Night, but then she usually does.
