Divided Thigh will start to organize this tournament after the first of the year. Since most have said that the Nashville area is a nice central place to host it, I will be helping to put it together.

We can reserve a block of tee times. Do we want to go threesomes or foursomes? Should we reserve 5 adjacent tee times, or should we reserve more?

We plan to offer a stay and play package deal! :)

Comments please!

Is it going to be a "best ball" tournament?

We have one of those evey fall here in Iowa/Illinois

I am very interested in participating.

I am not sure the planned format but I like best ball better than scramble any day. That said... I like Golf best... no matter the format of the competition. We could even make it a stroke play event and use the Oldsmobile handicapping system for those who do not have established handicaps or for those who have established handicaps but can't play up to it under pressure. :D

I am interrested in playing.

I think that a foursome best ball would be good.

Dude, I play golf so infrequently, I don't even know what a handicap is! I can hit the white ball and sometimes it even goes where I want it to! Other than that, I like to have fun with others on the links! I've never thrown a club or "cussed" over a bad shot. :D I wonder how many other "apostolic" preachers can say that! :D :D :D

Me and you both, brother. Enjoy the game, but don't have the time (or finances) to get good at it.

I can honestly say I have never "cussed" over a bad shot.

But, I have been known to yell "Hoover" at the top of my lungs when I hit a bad shot.........

At this time, it looks like I will be in Nashville Jan. 14-Jan. 18.

I doubt that time frame is suitable for a round of golf, but I will bring my clubs if so instructed.......

I would be very interested in joining this event...but if it is a scramble, I want to be on Phil Jones team. :D

Seriously, if this takes place I will bring my clubs. I will swing at the ball. I will know where the ball is.

Still at my feet! :D

I agree that a "best ball" tournament is the way to go! Stroke play can get "intense", and with "best ball" it is much more relaxed. I know that I could use a lot of help! :D

After all, we don't want Apostolics to have a reputation of breaking their clubs when they get together, do we? :ursofunny

The goal of the tournament is fellowship, and I hope we all leave as friends! Can I apologize to my teammates in advance? :D

I think you are right doing best ball. That way everyone gets to play their own ball, you don't necessarily have to be in the same group with your partners, you can take the final scores of all the competitors and create teams AFTER the round is over and draw blind out of a hat by scoring bands. One thing that is really fun is to have 3 or 4 man teams and you do a "LOW AND ADD" on each hole. That means that the two best scores of the 3 or 4 team members are added together to get the number for that hole. That keeps someone like Pianoman from going out and shooting 3 under and his team blowing everyone out of the water and the rest of the team does nothing.:santathumb It also means everyone has to play every hole out and do their best instead of going in their pocket on a hole.

This sounds like an awesome idea. Is there a chance we can do it where airfare and tee times are cheap?...like Vegas? :D

Edit: Can I stay in CC1's guest bedroom?

Hey, I would love for it to be in Vegas! Mrs. Pianoman sure would too! She would gamble away all of our posessions while I had a nice relaxing day on the course! :D

The consenses was Nashville because it's a closer drive for most, and Southwest has some good packages from Denver to Nashville too!

I'm sure the format will be open for suggestions like this to make it fair and fun! Your suggestion sounds like a great idea! :thumbsup

Back when I was a Seener... :) we used to have a group of 40 or so guys that played every Saturday and Sunday from sun up to sun down. We were called the salary cap group. Everyone put up 20 dollars and the money was divided into front and back nine $7 each (paid to teams in 1st thru 3rd in a 60, 25 & 15% split), $5 in a scat pool (individual scats - par or better to win scat), and $5 into a hole in one kitty (carried over until). With that format you never lost more than $20.00 but if you were hot you could win a bunch of money. Of course, since I was a Seener there was always the risk of losing your side bets. Those were the ones that got expensive. :D

Each golfer at our tournament will be required to sign an AS statement affirming that they have no side bets, as gambling is forbidden!!! :toofunny

I could bring my wife and she could help you give out the free drinks Pianoman is providing. :D

We might even be able to pray her through at the turn! Now that would be a golf tournament I would never forget! :)
