I'm feeling like I moved back to the midwest.
It's been COLD oh so COLD here, and heading into colder. And it's snowing for the 2nd day in a row. We're actually under a winter weather watch. For what they call "blowing snow, near white out conditions" and I called growing up a "blizzard". Dude..I moved here to get away from this stuff. I guess first time in 6 years isn't so bad. But my van still won't start!

I looove the snow. Closest thing to snow we got while I was in Tennessee was something they call 'drizzle', whatever that is???
Snow is good at Christmas---the rest of the Winter we enjoy it on our local mountains!

Be very careful Heavenlyone. You well know how dangerous snow accompanied by ice cold temps can be. Doesnt take very long for a person to freeze if stranded.

H1, sure hope you don't get stranded at work. What a way to spend your Christmas holiday - working double and triple shifts because no one else can get in or out. Been there, done that. NOT fun :(

This last front just missed us; it stopped about 10 mi south of us and moved east. But I predicted to co-workers that we wouldn't get any snow.....
This week we purchased a Troy Bilt two stage snow thrower! ( Hey, if it works don't knock it.) If we didn't get any more snow all winter I'd be a happy camper!!
Long live winter :star:star:star:star
I spoke with relatives , in the north, and they also got lots of snow and blowing. My sincere sympathy to all of you.:christmoose

The only thing we'll be dealing with in our new home are heat waves and the occasional sand storm.......

Oh, I'm only happy this time of year. After Jan 5th, it can leave and the 70 degree weather can move in!!

I totally understand. Thankfully, I work only 2 miles from home in a residential area.

The midnight nurse is actually in jail until March and it's only a mile from where we work. She's on work release and one of us nurses goes to pick her up so she doesn't have to walk.
She can't call in because of bad weather.....LOL!

The nurse is in JAIL?? How is that she was able to maintain her nursing license? Aren't those revoked if you've had to serve time in jail?
I'm not sure I'd be comfortable leaving my loved one in the care of someone who has been to prison. Sorry to say that and sound so judgmental, but I'm just being honest. Help me here. I'd like to be more understanding. Say something to make me feel better about this situation, please!!

She's in jail, not prison. Maybe it was just a DUI. :jolly

She had her 5th DUI, which isn't an offense that will get your nursing license revoked. It would only be revoked if she showed up at work and did something that put someone's life in danger or some such.
She's not in prison though. Just jail. She's a good person who has really been through a lot. Her daughter is in prison after killing her best friend while driving drunk. Her daughter was drunk after losing her 9 yr old daughter in a drowning accident just the month before the accident. They've been through a lot, really.
As for being judgemental, I'd be that way too, I suppose, not knowing the circumstances. Can't say that I blame you.

I'm trying to remember where it changes. I know due east it wasn't too far, maybe 45 min to an hour, and south may have been just about as far. We were kind of tucked off in that no-man's land. Florida didn't want us and Alabama didn't have to claim us. lol

I'm not sure how much we got. It's hard to say when, depending on what part of the street you are standing on, it could be just a dusting or 30 inches!!

We had a huge snowstorm last weekend. But this week, it was almost 50 degrees one day and so all the snow melted. Yesterday we had mega huge winds. Took down giant trees!!!!
At my sister's house, the wind knocked her old TV antenna down and it landed on the electrical wires going into her house. They had to call Edison to come and fix things.
In our backyard, it knocked the kids' basketball hoop right down. (one of those stand kinds that you fill with 150 lbs of sand to make it sturdy. Ya right! Didn't work in this case!!

H1,
thanks for explaining about your friend. I do understand better. I still don't know how comfortable I would be with her being the nurse for my family member with the drinking problem she obviously has. I hope that she is also court-ordered to get counselling or into AA or something. It sounds like she's had a very tough way to go and really needs some serious help. I pray that she gets it and that she accepts. it.

I totally agree with you. She's never been drinking on the job and she's never done anything to put her license in jeopardy. But in many cases, one thing leads to another.
In regard to the weather, I'm going to take pics before work. I didn't do it yesterday as I'd planned. I'll post them tonight.
