View Full Version : Get Over Tampa, Get Over Tulsa

I'm sorry, but this pity party over the Tampa vote is nauseating! I refuse to take the blame for voting my conscience at Tampa the result of which made some men feel they needed to leave the UPC and start a new organization.

Get over it! It is what it is. I think Jesus is fully capable of accomplishing His will and building His Kingdom however He chooses and it can be accomplished through BOTH the UPC and the WPF. Some are acting like Samuel mourning over Saul. How long will you weep for Saul? Go get up fill your horn with oil---there's a new king to anoint!

Get busy about the Kingdom's business and quit whining about who did what to whom. They voted their conscience we voted ours. The vote went one way and not the other. Some feel they need to leave others are fine with the way things are.

There is no need to demonize either side. Leave Tampa alone and leave Tulsa alone. God is in control. The Gospel will be preached to the whole world. Souls will still be saved. The rapture is still going to happen.

The UPCI doesn't need a "healer". We've got all the healer we need. Jesus is still with us. I hope and pray Jesus is still with WPF. Time will tell. BUT PLEASE---GET OVER TAMPA!!!!!!

It is so last September.

While your desire to get to work on more important matters is commendable, when it comes to our fellowship I think we do need to do a lot of house cleaning. I have been in churches where I spent years paralyzed and unable to win souls because I didn't really think I would be helping folks by bringing them to "my" church.

Once, for a brief period of time, I sat in a UPC church where I was the only "saint" and the preacher still took out all of his insecurities on me from the pulpit. I just had to cry.

DB- You are so right- I know the ministers who are behind this movement think they are doing this for the greater good- but I am tired of our movement majoring on the minors. We need to focus our attention on the Great Commission that Christ gave us and do our best to fulfill it. I think if you asked most saints, they would feel the same way.

I seriously doubt it. I have talked to a lot of people we all say the same thing- has to be an inside job or someone who knows a lot and someone from the west.
I do not know who wrote it but i am on a campaign to find out.
also, I got word today that whoever wrote it is going to write some kind of explanation about it

When did it become slander to guess who might or might not have written a satirical posting? And which POst are we talking about?

Coonskinner
01-23-2008, 04:26 PM
Furthermore, since when is it slander to speculate about the authorship of a piece of writing?

I have NEVER said I "knew" who the author was; only that I had a strong opinion based on similarities in style and point of view.

I did not make my speculations public, but I don't mind.

And besides, it can be settled real easy--if Deacon Blues says he didn't write it, I will certainly accept his word.

But I recall a piece he wrote as Ubiquitous on FCF or NFCF one that was very, very similar in style.

He wrote a commentary on various possibilites for GS that showed a lot of knowledge about the inner political workings of the UPC.

If he says he did not write it, I will believe him.

But I don't think it is at all correct to say "slander" because I make an observation that the style and tone are like DB.

I thought we were still allowed to express opinions.

By the way slander is spoken word, not written. Written words about someone living, impugning that persons character is defamation.

Was any living person named in the post?

What is ‘slander’?

Slander is a spoken defamation. Defamation or "defamation of character," is spoken or written words that falsely and negatively reflect on a living person's reputation.

There are attorneys who specialize in defamation lawsuits. You can find a listing of specialists in your area at AttorneyPages.com. http://injury-law.freeadvice.com/libel_and_slander/slander.htm

I wasn't speaking of you being slanderous for thinking it might be DB.

However, there were some pretty slanderous things being said about the author of that piece and if the rumor is that it's DB, then that could be seen as slanderous toward DB as the piece itself.
