Not me. I was in the Top 10 on NFCF. Made a commitment that it wasn't going to happen here. When I get close I simply disappear. (Mainly so I can refocus my "worldview.":heeheehee )

BOOM, can we change the smileys that appear in the window? These are getting kind of "stale."

Thanks, Oh Great Web Guru!

Well I am a newbie to this stuff and started back in November 2006....thanks to Dan. Then he invited me to this forum and I was reluctant for a few weeks and said no because I did not want to get sucked in...then while I was not looking, he injected me with a fix...

...I've spent more time than I should be and am self-sabotaging some of my goals for this year.

I have some questions:

Is there a way to put an account on freeze?

Who here has been successful at getting away when they knew they were just overboard on the time spent here?

How did you do it? Did you erase the link from your Favorites folder, did you cancel your account...how does one successfully get away?

Thanks in advance for the advice.

I'm not an addict. :killinme

I'm just a binge poster. I will post with a flury for a few days then get back to life and go dormant for a season.

Many on both accounts.

BTW in 2001 I walked away almost entirely from the Internet.

Simply logged off and did not go back for a few years.

Am I assuming correctly that you did this because you were overly consumed by it?

Well, like Daniel, I watched my Father die in 2001. I moved my family to an area I did not want to live in, and then 09/11/2001 ended my telecommuting. Living with my family meant much more than online community, so I gave it all up.

I got involved writing for missions...first at Good News Cafe then at NFCF and now here. My time is mostly given to promote a love for missions. Right now I have had surgery and the laptop is beside me on the bed...so I have some more time than I usually have.
Internet like just about all things can be addicting...so we must all use caution and never let the net hinder us in our many responsibilities...

It is like money...a good servant...a poor master...I choose the net to be a servant not my master...
Blessings to all. Sister Alvear

Just walk away...fade into the sunset...
disappear in the fog of the wee hours- right before dawn, or if you prefer, become one with the blackness of the night...

See? It's soooo easy....*smile*

I found FCF when Jim Yohe was still with us and bantered with him about TFT anb tv. Started the infamous All Trinitarians Are Lost thread. Moved to nFCF after the crash and now I'm here.

Made some friends and .....

Addicted I don't think so.

I can quit anytime I want.

:D

march -04 first post on an "apostolic themed" db.
Nov '04 - mid '05 self-imposed exile to re-evaluate if there is edification in these types of engagements with the brethren.

Addict? that would be an on-going condition that would be wide open door to some condemnation setting up house. I will confess that on several occassions I have been so appreciative of the opportunity to engage the brethren in topics that matter to me, that I have not exercised reasonable judgement concering the amount of time spent doing so.

I resolutely impose voluntary seperations from this kind of activity when I feel the urging by the Spirit of truth (and I accept the involuntary ones when seeking, study, family, making money, and raking leaves need priority)

I found FCF July, 2004 and have been addicted since!

I had just gone through a divorce and the forum was a great source of entertainment and way to get reconnected with old bible school friends and make new friends.

Just for the record, I was in constant PM communication with BOOM in the 15 minutes after his initial warning. I asked what specifically he wanted changed, he told me what it was, and I went back and edited the comments at his request...I was in full cooperation with around 3 or 4 PM message back and forth btwn BOOM and I, yet he proceeded to do the banning...but I did not have a recalcitrant attitude...was cooperating the whole time...so I am surprised that he commented that I thought I was above Admin.
