Hello all,

A few weeks ago I decided to participate in the Breast Cancer walk being held here in Houston. I am super excited about participating! I am attaching the "solicitation" email I sent out for donations. I have to raise at least $1,800 to be able to participate. Please, if you can, click on the link that will take you to my page to make a donation...but even more important than that, I need your prayers. This will be a major physical accomplishment for me. I will be walking the marathon...which is 26 miles over two days. Phew...

If you would like to read more information about the event you can go to www.avonwalk.org

You can click (or paste the link) in the email below to get to my personal web page. (My name is Dametria Douglas so you can make sure your contribution will get credited to me)

This is such a worthy cause, and with your help I can be really successful....with my fundraising as well as completing the marathon.

Thank you so much....please feel free to pass the word!!!

If you are in Houston and you want to sign up to make a team, PM me. Keeping in mind that the event is over an entire weekend....so you will be missing church on Sunday April 13th.

Dear Friends, Family, and neighbors,

As you may know, I have accepted the challenge and am participating in the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer.

Did you know that every three minutes, another woman in the United States is diagnosed with breast cancer? I didn't, and I was shocked to learn how prevalent this horrible disease has become in this country.

I am eager to get started with my fundraising and I need your support! I have pledged to raise money for the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer as part of my participation in the walk. I can not walk with out meeting the minimum fundraising requirement of $1,800. Your contribution will help to support medical research into the possible causes of and cure for breast cancer, education and early detection programs, and clinical care and support services for women with breast cancer in communities across the country. There is a special focus on helping medically under served women, the poor, minorities, the elderly, or those with inadequate health insurance. And much of the money granted by the Foundation goes back to the communities where it was raised, supporting everything from local grassroots programs to national organizations.

It is faster and easier than ever to support this great cause - you can make a donation online by simply clicking on the link at the bottom of this message. Whatever you can give will help! I truly appreciate your support and will keep you posted on my progress.

Please forward this email to all of your friends, family, and organizations so that together we can reach my fundraising goal...and get closer to a cure.

Thank you for your support; you really do make a difference. Click here to visit my personal page.

Just to keep you all posted, I hit a major milestone with my progress on Saturday (which happened to be my birthday....great B-day present for me). I walked 9 miles in just under 3 hours...which is a perfect pace to be able to complete the race!!

I am so excited....please continue to pray for me!

My goal is to work up to 13 miles for this coming Saturday and maintain that until the race. Phew....

Thank you so much! Its funny because as I "train" I am learning more and more things to ensure I am successful on the weekend of the event. I learned Saturday that the directors of this event know what they are talking about when they say you should eat 100 cals every hour. By the 2hr mark I was soooo depleted (even though I was drinking water) that I thought I was going to pass out. So I know now that I really need to pack snacks!!!

I am also feeling every bit of these 32 years!!! More aches than I care to mention!!!

Thanks again for your encouragement.

One of my goals for next year is to participate in a run/walk for an organization. It's something I've never done nor was able to do. I have too much going on to do it this year, but next year, I will.

Kool...its been fun so far because Avon has a lot of "training events" so you can meet the people in your area that are going to participate. I am getting the chance to meet people I other wise would have never known. Houston is sooooo large with sooooo many people. Its been great.

Hello Everyone!!

With just 5 weeks to go before the weekend event, I am eagerly preparing and diligently soliciting funds to reach my minimum fundraising requirement of $1,800. Thank you for the charity of those that have already contributed, to date I have approximately $800 in counting. This would not be possible without the generosity of the people in my life.

For more information about the event, please visit www.avonwalk.org

You can make donations online easier than ever by visiting my personal webpage: Click here to visit my personal page.

http://info.avonfoundation.org/site/TR/Walk2008/Houston?px=3913040&pg=personal&fr_id=1420&s_tafId=232528

If you wish to write a check instead of making a donation online, make your checks out to "Avon Walk For Breast Cancer", and in the memo note my name (Dametria Douglas) and my participation number (#812087). PM me for my address to mail me your check, or to meet with me for pick up if you are in the Houston Area.

Another great way to contribute to this worthy cause is if you are in the Houston Area and would like to volunteer for the weekend....please do so! You do NOT need to fund raise to become a Crew Person/Volunteer. For more information, visit www.avonwalk.org (Houston).

Thank you, and remember...together we WILL make a difference. Please Continue to keep me in your prayers!

Thanks!

Please support me and be a part of this noble cause by donating to help me reach my goal. No amount is too small! Remember, I can NOT participate in the walk if I do not meet the fundraising minimum.
